Everywhere Kang Could Show Up Next In The MCU

He literally has all the time in the world.

Kang the Conqueror is among Marvel Comics’ greatest villains. Between his arsenal of advanced weaponry and his love of time-traveling, it’s safe to say that the man born Nathaniel Richards will be giving all of our favorite heroes the fight of their lives when he returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Loki Disney+ series introduced us to He Who Remains, one of Kang’s few good variants, but the conqueror himself has been heavily hinted to become Marvel Studios’ next big, overarching threat. Let’s hop into the Quantum Realm and peek into the future of the MCU to figure out just where our blue-faced bad guy could show up next! UNCANNY Avengers (2012) #12

Enter the Marvel Unlimited time machine to learn more about Kang the Conqueror, the time-displaced villain! Who is he, what talents does he have, how many Kangs are there, and, most importantly, when is he? Try to keep up; there isn’t much time to spend.

WHO IS KANG?

YOUNG AVENGERS (2005) #3

Kang is the Master of Time!

No, seriously. Nathaniel Richards, who was born on Earth-6311 in the 30th century and later became known as Kang the Conqueror, discovered part of a time machine left by his namesake His progenitor from Earth-616—a guy known as the Benefactor who brought peace to the young Nathaniel’s earth. Prior to this finding, Nathaniel studied robots and cross-dimensional recordings of Earth-616 (mainstream Earth), which stated Benefactor delivered to his world. Kang, who was inherently bright, learned everything he could in order to become an overlord of the time-space continuum.

DOES KANG HAVE SUPERPOWERS?

YOUNG AVENGERS (2005) #5

No… yet yes. Kang has an unbreakable resolve and super-genius mind despite the fact that he lacks inherent superpowers. He learned how to utilize the Benefactor’s time machine and became an expert in his future’s superior technology, designing battle gear that gave him superhuman abilities. His armor allowed him to project radioactivity at anyone who stood in his way, even those with true superpowers. In addition, because he is immune to the effects of radiation (like those from his home era), he ages significantly slower. His knowledge of tactics, as well as his unarmed and armed combat abilities, aided him in becoming a warlord.

WHEN IS KANG?

The first appearance of “Rama-Tut” in FANTASTIC FOUR (1961) #19.

Kang (and his many divergent clones that he unwittingly created through time-travel paradoxes) could actually be found anywhere in the Multiverse. Kang, bored with his world’s peacefulness, first utilized the time device to travel to Earth-616’s ancient Egypt, where he became Pharaoh Rama-Tut. That was his first taste of power, but he was defeated by the Fantastic Four, a youthful Apocalypse, the moon god Khonshu, and Doctor Strange and the Avengers.

Rama-Tut was forced to flee his time machine due to the fighting, but a “time storm” diverted him to the current age, where he rescued a space-lost Doctor Doom. He invented the armored identity Scarlet Centurion, inspired by Doom’s visage, but abandoned it after losing to the Avengers in another reality (Earth-689) in one of his several efforts to control that world.

Kang has created a number of divergent duplicates.

Kang’s time trips are so frequent that he has created an infinite number of time-displaced copies. This leads to many complicated stories where alternate realities are created, and the course of history is altered.

The double Kangs appear at random and sometimes at the same moment throughout Marvel’s history. At this point, it is almost impossible to know who the original Kang is, or if there truly is one given the number of times Kang has been killed or even killed himself from a different point in time.

He Will Eventually Become Immortus the Time Master.

Kang the Conqueror’s powers grew in the future, and he became the time lord known as Immortus. Kang decided to give up his existence as Kang in order to assist the Time-Keepers from the temporal Limbo dimension after becoming tired of fighting and losing his loved ones in various timelines.

The Time-Keepers were aliens from the farthest reaches of the universe who picked Immortus as their avatar to protect timelines from anyone who would annoy them, including his younger self. While fighting his earlier self in the preservation of the timeline, Immortus frequently found himself on the side of the Avengers and other heroes.

His younger self transformed into Iron Lad and formed the Young Avengers.

Iron Lad was a fan-favorite Young Avengers member who resembled Iron Man and was in charge of managing the team of Avengers-related teen heroes. Iron Lad was revealed to be a younger version of Kang the Conqueror, much to the amazement of his fans (and colleagues).

Kang’s idea to travel back in time and persuade his younger self to accept his fate backfired. Instead, Iron Lad murdered his future self, causing a temporal paradox that was only resolved when he returned to the future to fulfill his destiny and become Kang the Conqueror.
