10 Oscars That Barbenheimer Will Win in 2024

10 Oscars That Barbenheimer Will Win in 2024. Up until now, Barbie and Oppenheimer have been the ideal couple, but soon they will be rivals for the Academy Awards.

Even though Barbie and Oppenheimer were released months ago, it may feel like Barbienheimer is over now that the excitement has finally started to fade. However, both movies are still strong contenders for the 96th Academy Awards. Right now, it appears that the two films will be nominated in a number of award categories, and the chances of them winning some of those awards are even. It’s remarkable that Barbie and Oppenheimer will be competing against one another in this manner because they could not be more dissimilar from one another. The Oscars will once again be the subject of Barbenheimer hype if anything is certain.

Consider the rivalries between Star Wars and Star Trek, Marvel and DC, and Playstation and Xbox. Pop cultural rivalries are frequently hostile and acrimonious. The way that two different fandoms came together and elevated both movies was the most novel aspect of Barbenheimer. Even if their enormous box office success was inevitable, the movies’ mutual support played a role in their extraordinary triumph. It’s unfortunate that it had to end this way because both movies now have to compete with one another for statuettes. They are most likely to be nominated in these ten categories.

Barbie’s “I’m Just Ken” For Best Original Song

Aside from the movie, Barbie: The Album is a big success in its own right, debuting at #2 on the Billboard 200 and being hailed as “one of the best albums of 2023 so far” by Rolling Stone. There are a ton of original songs on the soundtrack record, many of which may get the movie nominated for Best Original Song, but “I’m Just Ken,” the musical number performed as the Kens all get ready to go to war toward the end of the film, is a genuinely memorable and adored moment. Not only is it likely to be nominated in this category, but it also has the best chance of winning it right now.

Oppenheimer For Best Director

Given his body of work, it’s virtually impossible to understand why Christopher Nolan hasn’t received an Oscar nomination for Best Director. While some of this might be explained by the snobbery of The Academy, which occasionally prevents them from nominating genre movies and blockbusters that appeal to mass audiences, it seems especially egregious when you consider that both Inception and Dunkirk were nominated for Best Picture, among other awards. The Oscars have regularly passed by Nolan throughout his career, but this year is expected to be different. In this area, a nomination is almost a given, and winning is a very real possibility.

Barbie’s Ryan Gosling For Best Supporting Actor

As things stand, Ryan Gosling will almost certainly receive a nod for Best Supporting Actor. The Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories are the only ones where the Academy Awards historically prefer to give some love to comedians. It may seem odd to think of such a goofy performance getting recognized at the Oscars. Some notable prior nominees include Whoopi Goldberg, who won for her role as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost, Melissa McCarthy, who won for playing Megan in Bridesmaids, and Robert Downey Jr., who was nominated for playing Kirk Lazarus in Tropic Thunder. Ryan Gosling’s portrayal as Ken blends seamlessly with those of others.

Oppenheimer For Best Cinematography

Oppenheimer greatly elevated the cinematography in his films, even though almost all of Christopher Nolan’s filmography appears to be flawless. Oppenheimer pushed the boundaries by shooting only in IMAX, resulting in a film reel that weighed an astounding 600 pounds and measured 11 miles long. Oppenheimer wasn’t satisfied with just being aesthetically stunning. According to the response The Academy gave to Top Gun: Maverick last year, the buzz surrounding how moviegoers were going to see the movie presented did wonders to get people into actual, physical theaters.

Barbie For Best Costume Design

This category seems like such a lock, in typical Barbie fashion, that it almost feels like cheating. Barbie’s opulent, wide-ranging wardrobe is perhaps what makes her most famous in the entire globe, and the Barbie movie did not disappoint when it came to costumes. The Barbies and Kens all wore a variety of lavish costumes and clothes throughout the movie, and numerous fast flashes and sequences served no function other than to display the latest, most exciting attire—the majority of which were based on real toys. Barbie almost certainly won’t receive a nomination in this category.

Oppenheimer For Best Original Score

Since Tenet, Ludwig Göransson has been working with Christopher Nolan, who is most known for his work with Hans Zimmer. Göransson is a composer with extraordinary skill who has experienced a meteoric climb to popularity in recent years. After collaborating with Ryan Coogler on Creed, Göransson was selected to compose the music for Black Panther, continuing the odd trend of Community alumni moving on to work in the MCU. His first Oscar came from Black Panther, and based on the nearly universal praise for the soundtrack in Oppenheimer, a second Oscar appears quite likely.

Barbie For Best Production Design

What about production design? Just like with costumes, it almost seems too simple to predict that Barbie will be up for Best Makeup and Hair. The legendary Barbie Dreamhouse is one of many toy sets that have been faithfully recreated in the movie. Rosco’s entire supply of pink paint was used up making Barbieland for the movie, which led to a worldwide scarcity. Given that the movie had to entirely recreate everything, including plastic food and swimming pools, it makes sense. But more crucially, the finished movie has a fresh, inventive, original, and distinctive appearance.

Oppenheimer’s Cillian Murphy For Best Lead Actor

The Academy has a history of favoring portrayals of real people, and they also frequently tend to react favorably when an actor drastically changes their weight. In order to look like J. Robert Oppenheimer in real life, Cillian Murphy reportedly ate just one nut each day during the busiest times of filming. However, his work is much more than just tricks. He delivers a nuanced portrayal throughout the picture, giving us a glimpse of Oppenheimer’s confused and frequently contradictory thinking. Given his talent and popularity, it’s simple to forget that Cillian Murphy has never received an Oscar nomination; nevertheless, this year is likely to be the one where that changes.

Barbie for Best Original Screenplay

Warner Bros. has declared its intention to submit Barbie in the Best Original script category, despite the fact that it is what The Academy would traditionally classify as an adapted script (based on established characters). If they’re allowed to, it makes perfect sense given that this year’s fierce writing competition is concentrated in the Adapted Screenplay category, where Oppenheimer will probably be up against other movies that are expected to win major Oscars, such as Killers of the Flower Moon and Poor Things, in addition to Oppenheimer. Between now and March 2024, a lot can (and will) happen, but as of right now, Past Lives is the only significant Barbie Original Screenplay completion.

Both For Best Picture

This is where things are going to get extremely heated. Because both movies are front-runners for nominations in the prestigious Best Picture category, they will be directly competing with one another for the night’s top honor, putting an end to the amiable union of Barbie and Oppenheimer fans. It’s going to be time to “Choose Your Fighter,” as Ava Max sings on Barbie: The Album. Ideally, a third, distinct movie will take home the prize, allowing Barbenheimer and his team to continue their good work.

The 96th Academy Awards take place on March 10, 2024.
