“All Shook Up” is a song recorded by Elvis Presley, published by Elvis Presley Music, and composed by Otis Blackwell. The song was released on April 3, 1957 as a single on RCA Victor Records, under the catalog number 47-7640. It was one of his first hits written by Blackwell, who was a notable songwriter for Presley. It peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in Australia and New Zealand. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked it as number491 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The song is featured in the musical All Shook Up which premiered on Broadway in 2005. The musical is set in 1955 and based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. In an interview with SongFacts, Blackwell said that he wrote the song while taking a break from recording at Presley’s Hollywood home. He had approached Presley to record it after hearing him sing “One Night” (a song Blackwell had written), but Presley wanted to hear more of Blackwell’s songs. Blackwell said that he played the new song for Presley, who liked it so much that he asked to record it right away; according to Blackwell, they recorded it that day.
