Latvian writer Zigmunds Skujins He was the recipient of various national and international literary honors, as well as the Order of the Three Stars. He was one of the founders of the Latvian Cultural Foundation in the 1980s. In 1985, he was named People’s Writer of the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic. His first short story was published in 1948, and he has since produced numerous novels, short story collections, essays, and memoirs. His work has frequently been adapted for the theatre and the movie. He has also been translated into a number of European languages (English, French, German, Russian, Polish and many more). In 2008, he received the Order of the Three Stars, and in 2007, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
