Demon Slayer Season 4 Hashira Training Arc Episode 3 was pretty awesome. Let us see how the 3rd episode went in detail below.

Demon Slayer Season 4 Hashira Training Arc Episode 2 Recap

In today’s episode, we finally get answers to the pressing question left hanging in the previous segment. At the onset of the training arc, it was revealed that Giyu wouldn’t participate, but the reason was never disclosed—until now. We delve into Giyu’s past, uncovering his indifferent attitude and his hesitance to join the training.

The episode kicks off with Tamayo informing Yushiro that they will be relocating for the final time after a visit from the crow. She has decided, following an invitation from Ubuyashiki, to continue her research at his residence. Meanwhile, Tanjiro receives a personal letter from the master, tasking him with a unique mission: to persistently follow and persuade Giyu to open up about his past and join the training.

This episode skillfully blends serious drama with comedic moments. Giyu’s backstory is heart-wrenching, yet Tanjiro’s relentless and humorous efforts to get Giyu to share his story and join the training are sure to produce laughter. The dynamic between Tanjiro, the unstoppable extrovert, and Giyu, the reserved introvert, is particularly entertaining.

Additionally, an unexpected character reappears, someone previously thought insignificant, who will profoundly influence Giyu’s future decisions.

Demon Slayer Season 4 Hashira Training Arc Episode 3 Review and Recap

Today’s episode was pretty chill in the first half as we finally started the training arc with the ex-hashira, Usui. And things do not seem easy for those who are going through this. Usui is absolutely ruthless and does not like being soft on anyone. His training is harsh and focuses mainly on increasing the base strength of his trainees. He makes them run long hours throughout the mountain, climb steep cliffs and even force-feeds them after their workout. And, helping him are his three wives, who make all the food for the students.

This is when Usui is joined by Tanjiro, after getting better and taking ample rest. The moment he enters the scene, the mood changes as he comes with his endless positivity and energy to prepare. We do not see Inosuke or Zenitsu here training with Usui, so maybe they are somewhere else. Things go uneventfully in this half, as Obanai rightly points out that it is the calm before the actual storm.

However, towards the end, we get some small but important details that will be important later. We even see Usui back in action after such a long time, and I wonder whether he seriously needs to stay retired, as he is clearly stronger than a standard demon slayer. At least the people he is training and even Tanjiro can not go head to head with him, and they clearly need more training.

Today’s episode did not have much to explore, and honestly, it felt like it ended too soon. I would have loved to see more details about the training but, it seems the makers are dragging things because this season will only consist of the training arc.

Verdict

I love this episode, but also felt the lack of more info. It was indeed entertaining, but they clearly could have shown us a bit more from the next episode. It is just frustrating that we will have to wait for another week to see Tanjiro in action. Hopefully, the next episode’s pace will be better.
