Go Go Loser Ranger Episode 3 Review: An Unpredictable Turn Of Events

Go Go Loser Ranger Episode 3 Review: This is a very interesting anime that exceeded my expectations. Here, we have a Shounen anime based on our beloved theme of Power Rangers. Let us see how the third episode went.

Go Go Loser Ranger Overview

Go Go Loser Ranger or Sentai Daishikkaku (戦隊大失格) is a manga series which is written as well as illustrated by Negi Haruba. The manga first began in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on February 3, 2021. Since then, the series has been released as individual tankōbon volumes, with the first one hitting the shelves on April 16, 2021. As of February 16, 2024, a total of thirteen volumes have been published. In November 2021, Kodansha USA announced at Anime NYC’s panel that they had secured the license for the series.

This anime is produced by Yostar Pictures and directed by Keiichi Sato. The scripts for the series are written by Keiichirō Ōchi, and the character designs are handled by Kahoko Koseki. Kenji Hayama is in charge of the animation. It’s all set to premiere on April 7, 2024, on TBS and Disney+. Tatsuya Kitani will perform the opening song called “On The Next Episode”, and Nanawo Akari will perform the ending song titled “Don’t Need the Right Answer”.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Go Go Loser Ranger Episode 3 Review: Steal The Divine Artefact?

This anime has really become one of the best out of all the shows that are coming out, with this episode. Now, let me start by saying how perfectly executed the last twist was. Not only was I not expecting something like this, but I was absolutely blown away by how someone could turn the tables like this.

This episode actually starts with another twist. We get to know that Hibiki is not your usual kind, and the way he interacted with Foot Soldier D, makes us think just what is going on in his mind. Not only Yumeko but even he came off as weird to me because these people are definitely not acting like how they should.

On the other hand, Yumeko and Foot Soldier D discuss how they can start their plan to defeat the Dragon Keepers. It is definitely not a very simple task, but there is one way which can make humans lose. It is the dangerous idea of infiltrating the Red base and stealing the Red Keeper’s divine artefact. The mission will go like this, Foot Soldier D will take the appearance of the Red Keeper and go to the base on a Sunday Showdown. The actual rangers will be busy in the arena having their usual mock fights while our hero will swipe the divine artefact out of the building.

But things are easier said than done, and I can only say that things go wrong in every way in this mission. One thing that was interesting about Foot Soldier D is how human he is. Being a monster, you think him to be ruthless, cunning, strong and even emotionless, but he acts more like a human than all the human characters in this show. There is even an instance where Yumeko compliments him, and he blushes.

Perhaps this is why when the anime actively portrays the humans in an antagonistic light, you actually believe that. The heroes are absolutely evil and you really pray for them to lose. Plus, the cliffhanger that this episode ended on is unbearable and it is a struggle to wait for the next episode.

 Verdict

I love this episode. It had everything; comedy, drama, intrigue, even tragedy. If you have not yet started this anime, I will ask you to watch it. This is something really unique and fresh, with the concept being very intriguing.
