Flex X Cop Episode 12 Recap and Review: The new series directed by Kim Jae-hong, known for his hits Revenant and written by Kim Ba-da, who is well known for her successful series My Name, is highly welcomed in the Kdrama world. The exceptional collab between the famous director and the writer stars famous actors, Ahn Bo-hyun, Park Ji-hyun, Kang Sang-jun and Kim Shin-bi, in the lead roles. It’s a mix of action, romance, comedy and thriller genres, making the whole watch worthwhile.

Ahn Bo-hyun’s last venture was See You In My 19th Life (2023), Park Ji-hyun was last seen in Reborn Rich (2022), Kang Sang-jun’s ongoing series is Marry My Husband (2024) and Kim Shin-bi’s last work was Revenant (2023).

Flex X Cop Plot

Jin I-soo, born into a third-generation conglomerate, enjoys a life of abundance, devoid of the need for assistance from others. His world takes an unexpected turn when he becomes embroiled in a complex case. Driven by the desire for a new challenge, Jin I-soo makes a surprising decision.

Opting to immerse himself in the gritty world of crime-solving, Jin I-soo joins the Kangha Police Station’s violent investigative team, specialists in apprehending robbers. His motivation is to leverage his wealth and personal connections to make a difference in the field. In this venture, he partners with Detective Lee Gang-hyun, a dedicated and adept investigator known for his smooth-talking skills.

Despite I-soo’s affluent background, Gang-hyun remains indifferent to his presence, setting the stage for a compelling partnership rooted in the pursuit of solving crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice. As they delve into the intricacies of their work, the narrative promises a blend of wealth, intrigue, and the challenges inherent in the world of criminal investigation.

Flex X Cop Episode 12 Recap

I-soo manages to save Kang-hyun as he distracts one of Woo-hyuk’s men who comes to the cabin. I-soo says he was in search of food and they both leave, allowing Kang-hyun to escape. News regarding Seong-wook’s death startles Kang-hyun’s parents and her father especially understands that his daughter has gone to investigate the cult. At the police station, Hyung-jun (Kang-hyun’s father) confront Changgun, the senior officer of Kang-hyun about his daughter.

Changgun who is under the superintendent’s order refuses to tell anything to Hyung-jun, despite the fact he was his senior back in those days. Hyung-jun requests him to take care of his daughter and leaves. Meanwhile, Joon-young and Kyung-jin, with the help of team 1 learn that Dong-su and Seong-wook had a conversation via text and learn that they both have found a truth and that’s why Woo-hyuk killed them.

The SBS reporter asks Joon-young about the Oryun community but he rejects answering thinking that he just wants news. However, he reveals that one of his colleagues has joined the cult. We’re then shown Kang-hyun being pulled in the cult manager lady Jeong-yeon where she reveals that she’s a reporter who joined the cult to find the truth. Jeong-yeon says that Woo-hyuk kills people with a poison he prepares by promising them the next life. He simply does it to loot their fortune.

She continues that in every gathering, he chooses 7 victims. The next morning, Yeji says to Kang-hyun that the Bori (Woo-hyuk) has selected her for the next life. Meanwhile at the police station, with the help of the fingerprints that I-soo somehow made Mr Choi get, learns that Woo-hyuk and Seong-wook have 3 convictions on them. On asking Mr. Choi about how he got the copy of the fingerprints, he refuses to answer (we’ll learn it towards the end).

The cops learn that Woo-hyuk killed a man in a car accident and that the story he told before was a lie. They then learn from a plastic surgeon that he recently visited that he’s planning to change his entire face to escape somewhere else without a trace. At the meditation camp, Woo-hyuk requests the new entry list only to learn that the details are tampered with. Hence he makes his man to drug Jeong-yeon and grab her to the cabin. That night, Kang-hyun watches one of Woo-hyuk’s men carry Jeong-yeon and prepares to finish the main guy’s plot.

When Kang-hyun goes there, she and I-soo together fight off the men until the last two powerful men overtake them. The two wake up, their hands tied. Woo-hyuk threatens them and decides to end them. I-soo says that Woo-hyuk can’t escape as one of their invisible drone camera is constantly watching him and the police are on their way. The invisible drone is through which Mr. Choi got the photos of the fingerprints.

Woo-hyuk presses a button and the floor opens, dropping I-soo and Kang-hyun into a room filled with water. He then closes it and leaves to escape. Seeing through the drone camera, both Team 1 and Team 2 get back up and rush to the camp. The cops stop Woo-hyuk and capture his men. At the cabin, the water level rises, leaving Kang-hyun to panic as she cannot swim. I-soo tries to save the situation but thankfully Joon-young hears I-soo and realises the situation.

Kyung-jin goes down to the basement and finds the pipe that’s flowing the water. He shoots it with his gun to stop the water level. I-soo does CPR on Kang-hyun to bring her consciousness back. He panics as she doesn’t wake up. Joon-young punches Woo-hyuk to find the way to open the secret door. Kang-hyun wakes up and right on time, Joon-young opens the door. After learning about Woo-hyuk’s arrest, Kang-hyun hugs Joon-young and cries. Watching this, I-soo feels a bit bitter.

She then officially arrests him that night. Her parents come to the crime spot and show their concern. Kang-hyun speaks to Yeji and asks her to contact her to legally solve her debt issue. Kang-hyun smiles at I-soo and leaves. I-soo returns home, and gets a call from his father who sounds concerned. Previously when Joon-young and Kyung-jin find out about the cult’s origin, they somehow convince Seong-wook’s wife to accept the autopsy. The forensic doctor finds a USB in his stomach and gives it to Changgun.

Changgun finds all the needed evidence and a video of the chief superintendent getting the bribe. He arrests him and speaks to the senior officers that it will be best if they can bring Hyung-jun and appoint him as the superintendent to pay back for the mistake they made. Hyung-jun returns back to his job, finally. That night a drunk man drives his car to I-soo’s father’s home and dies there as the episode closes.

Flex X Cop Episode 12 Review

Wow, the episode is an absolute banger. I loved how the cops immediately worked cleverly to stop the criminal and save the day. I-soo’s feelings for Kang-hyun have begun because when he became jealous of Joon-young for hugging Kang-hyun, it was evident that he wants to be in that spot. Thankfully he learns from Joon-young that he has another woman in his mind. Kang-Hyun also seems to have developed feelings for I-soo but is unable to express them.

The cases that are shown in this series are really interesting especially when it gets solved with a huge plot twist. I love every case and the way the episodes also show the main leads’ personal lives and struggles. Hoping to see how the series is going to develop and what more truth we’re going to discover.
