The Witch And The Beast Overview

The Witch and the Beast is a Japanese comic series created by Kousuke Satake. It began in “Young Magazine the 3rd,” in November 2016 and later moved to Monthly Young Magazine. By August 2022, 10 book volumes had been published, compiling all the chapters. In January 2024, an animated TV series based on the manga premiered on Crunchyroll and other various platforms.

The anime is directed by Takayuki Hamana and written byYūichirō Momose, with music given by Hanae Nakamura and Natsumi Tabuchi. 

Yokohama Animation Laboratory is handling the animation and it is known for handling projects like The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal, Magatsu Wahrheit -Zuerst-, etc.

Episode 6 of The Witch And The Beast can also be called the 6th episode of Majo to Yajuu or 魔女と野獣.

The Witch And The Beast Episode 6 Review and Recap – A Good Witch?

In this episode, we see another aspect of the world of this anime. Here, there is a huge international organization called the global holy church, which even maintains one of the largest magical armies called the Paladin Corps. These highly trained army people are experts in resolving magical atrocities and handling related problems. But behind this organization, there is a dark side that they keep hidden from ordinary people. Now they are essentially the rivals of the order of magical resonance. This means Ashaf and Guideau will have to complete their mission by going against the Paladin Corps.

Just like every other episode that we have seen in this anime, this time as well, we are made to focus on a new presence. We see an entire military organization run by the mysterious Commander Matt Kuga, who is confident that he can capture the witch himself without any backup. This mission is highly important as the person that he is dealing with is not just an ordinary witch, she is Helga Velvett, the descendant of an origin called Queen Velvett.

This witch might seem very weak, but she carries a weapon that has the power of mass destruction. This episode again started off with lots and lots of information, which has become the norm for every episode. Slowly, it’s building the world, and I appreciate the knowledge cause more information means the plot thickens. But still, at times, it feels like the details become too much, and we don’t get to see much action and only hear stories.

What is interesting in this anime is we slowly realize how witches are not the only problems in this world. Yes, some bad witches do more harm than good, but there is a reason why many of them lash out towards humans. Many witches do not wish anything other than to be on their own. It’s just that society is so biased against them, that they must run away from everyone.

 Here as well, we see how a witch who is supposed to be evil is not how she is. And the people who are supposed to be the protectors, act very much like villains themselves.

Verdict

 I thought this episode to be decent. Here, I do not have much to talk about as we were continuously fed information about what was happening on screen. Most probably, in the next episode, we will see more action, and it will become intense from then on.
