Arthdal Chronicles Season 2: 4 Things That Left Us Disappointed in This Sequel

Arthdal Chronicles season 2 brought us a spectacular plot and an amazing ending to the season with the moments that we had all been waiting for. From the intricate battle plans to the mind games that kept us on our toes till the end, the season had everything as well as some disappointments that we could not let go of.

Arthdal Chronicles The Sword of Aramun (아라문의 검: 아스달 연대기) is the newest season of the historical fantasy Kdrama under the same name directed by Kim Kwang-shik. The show brought back the old cast along with many new faces including, Jang Dong-gun, Lee Joon-gi, Shin Sae-kyeong, Kim Ok-bin, Shin Joo-hwan, and Park Hae-joon alongside other cast members.

We have seen a few new faces this season, but the old faces did not fail to bring us the vibe we missed all this while back to the show. Our love-hate relationship with Tagon and Taealha continued this season and while it took some time to get used to the new faces of Eunseom and Tanya, the actors made sure to bring the feeling back to the best of their ability.

The Ago tribe and the Arthdal soldiers brought in chaos like no other while the twins Eunseom and Saya finally got to come face-to-face. Meanwhile, Tagon brought in some madness and the mind games between two very strong women never stopped throughout the season. The plot had every bit of this suspense along with new stories and mysteries that left us wondering what is even happening at some points.

There is no doubt that the show has not failed in delivering the very best of its main plot, however, there were still some points that left fans of the show disappointed, to the extent that they couldn’t help but give up midway. If you have been an adamant viewer of the show then the chaos we went through midway is no surprise to you.

While it is only one of the few things we have on this list, it did influence many fans to give up being regular viewers. Alongside this, there are some other points that had us disappointed and we have a list ready to point out everything that went wrong with Arthdal Chronicles season 2!

Too Many Stories, Too Less Time

While the main plot was highlighted constantly throughout the season without many fillers, the new stories introduced like that of the Ikomahis, the history of Shahitis Children, and others had us intrigued yet unfulfilled. Surely these stories came with little explanations and stories from the other characters, however, they never really fulfilled our desire to know more about them.

Kanmoreu

The biggest disappointment that we have from this season has to be the death of the faster-than-the-wind horse Kanmoreu or as Eunseom calls him Daoyu. Our expectation of a fake one being killed came to an end when nothing of such sort was mentioned in the following episode. Thus, making this one of the biggest disappointments for fans of the show.

Abrupt Ending

Next, we have to point out the abrupt ending that came forth following the death of Tagon which seemed like he was the main character whose end means the end of the show. Surely he was the character carrying most of the show with his amazing performance, however, we had been looking forward to Eunseom who is the new King of Arthdal and we didn’t really get much of that.

The ending was no doubt abrupt on this end as we just moved on to what Saya and Taealha were doing after seeing Eunseom get a happy ending with Tanya. This was quite a bummer as the whole season was about him winning Arthdal which was assumed to have been done when he picked the Sword of Aramun in front of everyone.

Postponed Release Dates

Finally, we have one of the biggest disappointments of this season which brought down the shine it initially carried. The dates were postponed due to the Chuseok festival which was abrupt for international viewers as no notice was given about the same until looked into what was happening.

However, this didn’t end with just one weekend but continued to the next weekend where episode 7 was finally released on a Sunday followed by episode 8 (which was again abrupt). All this confusion did become quite frustrating for many viewers who then decided to skip the weekly releases.

Altogether, these points did become a reason for our dissatisfaction but they did not diminish the charm of the plot, which soon caught our attention to get back to enjoying the excitement right after the release of every episode. Hopefully, we now get Arthdal Chronicles season 3 which will wipe out these negativities and bring back the excitement that we get from this show.
