Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 Ending Explained

Arthdal Chronicles season 2 episode 12 brought us the much-awaited finale of the show as Eunseom enters Arthdal to save Tanya but only to arrive there after Saya. Meanwhile, Saya arrives in the temple where the exchange for Tanya’s life is to happen, and with a surprise for Tagon.

He brings Arok in a bag and tells Tagon that he will exchange Arok for Tanya, but this only infuriates Tagon as he signals the guard outside to pour Bichwisan into the pool outside and trigger the trap door which will then spread the poison to the wells around the city. He then turns to release Tanya and reminds her that she is the only one who can save Arthdal from the disaster he has created.

Tanya runs to the pool while Saya faces Tagon’s wrath until Eunseom, who gets the message from Mungtae, arrives to face Tagon. The mirror reflects the sword and Tagon faces a rival worth fighting against. The brawl continues as the two gasp for air until Eunseom stabs Tagon in the torso and finally slits his throat with the sword of Aramun he had once placed in the tree trunk.

The Ago soldiers arrive at this moment and surround Tagon while Saya is thanked for his help and sent for treatment. Eunseom realises that he has finally won when Tagon tells him that they have both lost what is most precious to them. This makes Eunseom realise that something is wrong and asks everyone to search for Tanya.

Elsewhere, Tanya arrives at the pool and when she is unable to lift the jar to stop the poison from pouring, she takes a rope and makes a tough choice. She jumps into the pool filled with Bichwisan and ties the trap door to ensure that it doesn’t open before coming out drenched in poison.

She returns to the temple and reveals that she is doused in Bichwisan which startles Eunseom as they now realise that their reunion won’t be for long. Tagon sees Tanya and tells her that she is the only winner in this chaos while Saya too gets the news about Tanya’s poisoning and wants to meet her.

Right then the Neanthals from Irkebaek make him unconscious and take him away to fulfil a promise. Meanwhile, Taealha arrives at the temple and makes an exchange with Eunseom. She promises the antidote for Bichwisan in exchange for her and Arok’s lives and an escape route.

However, Yeonbal and Gilseon’s words instigate the crowd which gets infuriated and comes to a halt when Tanya arrives while speaking to them through her telepathy. She tells them to not fear the change and makes Eunseom reveal who he is which reminds the people of the drawings they saw on the walls.

She then begins to ask him to make promises to take care of the people, failing which he is entitled to be harmed by the same people. Eunseom accepts these promises and slowly wins the trust of the people when Chojaha arrives and tells him that only Aramun can rule them.

Seeing their need for Aramun, Eunseom takes out the sword of Aramun from the tree trunk and reveals his arm which holds the same pattern as the sword. This surprises everyone present there as they bow down to the new Aramun. Seeing this sight, Eunseom and Tanya head inside the palace with relief.
