The Worst of Evil Episodes 8 Recap

Still From The Worst of Evil Episode 8

The eighth episode starts with Hae-ryun’s father not being happy with Gi-cheul’s inability to do the job right. After a very cult-like tea-drinking ceremony, we go straight to a meeting between Hae-ryun and Sung Ki-soo. She is making a deal with him and figuring out his motivations when he starts to look down upon her. Hae-ryun is, however, not someone who takes disrespect lightly and eventually thinks twice about doing business with him. Elsewhere, Jun-mo feels frustrated about the way things went with Cheon Jin-pyung and can’t help but wonder whether Gi-cheul got to know about his true intentions.

As Gi-cheul tries to reach Jin-pyung repeatedly, Chang-sik informs Jun-mo that Jin-pyung wasn’t able to contact Gi-cheul before he died, so he doesn’t know the truth yet. Soon enough, Gi-cheul learns about Jin-pyung’s death and starts to become suspicious of Jun-mo, who excitedly tells her about meeting with the Chinese and getting everything sorted out as soon as possible. Gi-cheul questions his interest in the deal, and he assures him that he is only doing everything because he wants to be more successful.

Elsewhere, an irate Eui-jeong questions Chang-sik about his methods and tells him that he needs to send him back up in order to help him. Realising that Jun-mo is not getting any help, Eui-jeong decides to reach out to Gi-cheul herself and plans to meet the next day, and even this makes Gi-cheul question everything about his association with her and Jun-mo. He calls Yong-dae and asks him to meet him the next day without telling anyone.

Early morning the next day, Gi-cheul tells Jun-mo that a guest will be coming to the office that day and asks him to wrap up his meeting with Hae-ryun quickly and effectively without divulging further details. Soon enough, Hae-ryun arrives at the office, ready to go on a “date” with Jun-mo, while Eui-jeong arrives at the same time. After witnessing the two of them leaving, she asks him where he is going but gets no response from him, thanks to Hae-ryun, who senses the chemistry between the two of them.

Eui-jeong tries to clear her misunderstanding about Jun-mo and Hae-ryun’s relationship but doesn’t get anywhere because Gi-cheul tells her that even though it is a business meeting, she seems to like him quite a bit. Inside the office, Eui-jeong gets a tour of the office and chats with Gi-cheul. In the midst, Yong-dae arrives, and Gi-cheul secretly gives him a task to fulfil. Afterwards, they decide to go out.

Meanwhile, Hae-ryun and Jun-mo stroll down a small-town road that she wants to redevelop, and the two of them discuss their histories while playing games from their childhoods. Yong-dae, on the other hand, goes to where Jin-pyung had died to investigate, whereas Eui-jeong and Gi-cheul discuss his dreams of creating a hotel by the sea as he tries to be honest about who he is in hopes that she will open up to him.

As they are on their way back, Gi-cheul gets a call from Yong-dae, who tells him the circumstances of Jin-pyung’s death and that he was found behind the Retired Police Association’s building. The place strikes Gi-cheul as odd, and he asks Yong-dae to look into it further. As Eui-jeong and Gi-cheul walk down the seashore, Yong-dae goes inside the building pretending to be a cop. Back at the seashore, an impassioned Gi-cheul asks Eui-jeong whether she ever lived in Wonju, and she tells him that she didn’t but used to visit often due to her father’s job. Eui-jeong is able to convince him of her innocence, and Gi-cheul eventually gifts her a necklace, but in the most dangerous way possible!

Elsewhere, Hae-ryun seems to be lapping up everything that Jun-mo is giving up and getting more and more interested in him as time passes. Learning of Jin-pyung’s death, Min-goo goes to the crime scene and finds Jun-mo’s lighter on the ground. Back to the couples – Eui-jeong tries to convince Gi-cheul that their meeting was fate so as not to let him suspect her sudden reappearance and connection with Jun-mo while Jun-mo tries to steer his conversation with Hae-ryun towards their deal.

The latter tells Jun-mo that she wants to increase the amount and the money this time and asks him to make a decision independently – she wants them to work together. Meanwhile, Eui-jeong pulls out the emotional card and promises to stay by him no matter what because she won’t leave him this time around – because she loves him. Unable to contain his emotions, the two of them kiss each other passionately.

That night, Ki-soo and Oyama’s meeting gets noticed by Hee-sung and Jong-ryul and they are asked to come back to the office to talk further. Elsewhere, Jun-mo agrees to work with Hae-ryun, who seems pleased with the progress. However, when her father learns this, he doesn’t seem thrilled with the prospect and asks Kang-san to stay away from Gi-cheul at all costs. At the office, Hee-sung is left shocked when they learn about Gi-cheul’s association with Eui-jeong. They ask him to reconsider, but he remains adamant about his choice. They are further left shocked when they learn that Jun-mo is out trying to wine and dine with Hae-ryun.

As Jun-mo gets asked to sleep with Hae-ryun to get the deal, Eui-jeong gets more and more emotional with Gi-cheul’s story as he opens up about his past. In the end, he mentions that he wants to change to be a better person for her. Meanwhile, a heavy makeout session gets interrupted when Ki-soo informs Hae-ryun that Oson has decided to go with Jaegeon Group and that the latter will attack Gi-cheul that night. Sensing the tension, Jun-mo asks her what’s going on, and she indirectly tells him that he might just have to stay without Gi-cheul soon enough.

As he rushes to the office, he informs Jong-ryul just as Jaegeon Group barges into the office. As an all-out war breaks out, Eui-jeong is left alone in a room as Gi-cheul rushes out to protect his people.

The episode starts with Eui-jeong and Jun-mo’s wedding, which is very sadly interrupted by his very high father creating a ruckus.

Back to the present, as blood sprays everywhere in the halls, Jun-mo and Eui-jeong come face to face for a split second and after sharing a glance, they both immediately start to fight. After some horrifying bloodshed, Hae-ryun walks into the room and calmly tells Gi-cheul to prove to him his loyalty since she is going against her father. At Jaegeon Group, Gi-cheul and his associates barge in, and Jun-mo wastes no time in cutting Ki-soo’s heel open and Gi-cheul tells Oyama to make Kanemoto personally apologise to him if he wants to do any business.

In the aftermath, a traumatised Eui-jeong thinks back to more innocent times with Jun-mo, and both look heartbroken at the turn their lives have taken. She gets voice messages from both Gi-cheul and Jun-mo; while the former asks her whether she is all right, the latter implores her to drop out of the investigation so that she doesn’t get into any problems.

The next day, Gi-cheul and his colleagues sit down to discuss the next steps. While the three refuse to accept anything before an apology, Jun-mo tries his best to quicken the process and tells them that they can’t hold on to their pride if they want to sell the meth. Unfortunately, before they are able to complete their conversation, Min-goo arrives at the office to talk about Jin-pyung’s murder. He tries to get Jun-mo to confess to the crime, but the quick-witted policeman refuses to show an ounce of confusion.

Afterwards, Gi-cheul meets Eui-jeong to discuss what happened the other night, and she promises to trust him no matter what. Meanwhile, Jun-mo meets Oyama to smooth things over and start their business again – he proposes a delicious proposition that he is unable to let go of. Meanwhile, Min-goo meets Ki-soo to embarrass him further about his failure and then gets news about Yankees selling the Gangnam Crystal to a guy called Dodgers, who is currently in a detention centre.

They strike up a deal to help him get more information in exchange for getting out of prison, which he happily takes up, but the decision results in him getting horrifyingly beaten up. In the end, he gets information on Yankees’s girlfriend, but when he reaches her place, she is long gone. Meanwhile, Kanemoto arrives at the Gangnam Union office to talk about their business but gets into a spat with Gi-cheul, who refuses to relent. Insulted, he walks away, leaving Jun-mo furious.

Frustrated, he goes to Hae-ryun for help, who tells him that Kanemoto asked her father to cut the Koreans out completely, and, in response, Jun-mo asks her to work with him without others’ interference. In response, Oyama takes Hae-ryun and Jun-mo to meet Kanemoto, and the two of them implore him to work with them. In response, Kanemoto asks Jun-mo to perform yubitsume, which turns on its head when Oyama and Nishigawa murder Kanemoto. In the end, it is revealed that Oyama had told Gi-cheul about this plan from the beginning, and when Gi-cheul enters the room, he calmly mentions that they can now start talking about business again.

The Worst of Evil Episode 9 Review

Still From The Worst of Evil Episode 9

Well, what a couple of bloody episodes these two have been, and they have been absolutely ruthless! These two episodes have been extremely enjoyable, both from the action perspective and the emotional perspective. The push and pull of emotions between Jun-mo, Eui-jeong and Gi-cheul are delicious to watch and tug at your heart. Interestingly enough, you start to feel something for Gi-cheul as well, who is a ruthless gangster. However, we see his backstory and can’t help but be pulled towards him.

Ji Chang-wook, as Jun-mo, is excellent. It’s scary to watch him murder people without remorse in spite of us knowing that he is a soft and warm person. He delivers his role so well! All in all, the latest episodes are thrilling, entertaining and full of drama and will keep you thoroughly entertained. The politics between the gangs is also well done and will keep you on your toes throughout.
