6 Live Action Anime Movies Like Jigen Daisuke That Fans Would Actually Love: Death Note, Blade Of The Immortal And More

6 Live Action Anime Movies Like Jigen Daisuke: Very rarely do we get a live-action adaptation of an Anime that can or at least tries to match the brilliance of its animated counterpart. This is the reason why most anime fans avoid and to some extent, almost hate the idea of seeing their beloved characters as humans.

But surprisingly, the live-action adaptation of Jigen Daisuke was better than what I expected. Even though we definitely cannot expect a near-perfect resemblance with the original thing, fans wouldn’t be disappointed with it.

So, if you have also liked that film, here is a list of 6 live-action anime movies like Jigen Daisuke that fans would actually love, in no particular order.

6 Live Action Anime Movies Like Jigen Daisuke

Rurouni Kenshin Part II: Kyoto Inferno

Whenever the question of which movie managed to capture the essence of anime arises, Rurouni Kenshin always comes first for almost everyone. This is because of the time and effort the makers put into creating the movie franchise despite the challenges. The characters of Rurouni Kenshin are iconic, ruthless and sacred, but the casting director really managed to get their hands on actors who were close to perfection.

In this part, we see Kenshin Himura battling Makoto Shishio, an evil entity trying to overthrow the Meiji government. But things aren’t that simple, as Kenshin is reluctant to do this deed. This is because he has vowed never to draw swords again.

Obviously, it is not as good as the manga cause the movie leaves out many things that helped the characters grow as a person. But it is still a very good movie that you should definitely check out after watching the anime or reading the manga.

Grand Blue

If you are someone who appreciates witnessing slapstick comedy between friends, this is the movie for you. The manga and anime versions of this movie are absolutely hilarious and sure to leave you rolling on the floor laughing. Unsurprisingly, the movie version also works perfectly well, as the story is very much based on realistic interactions. Here, you will also see some great actors like Ryo Ryusei, Yuki Yoda, Masahiro Takashima, etc.

The plot centres around Iori, who has recently moved to the Izu peninsula for higher studies. There, his uncle has a diving shop, but the local diving club is far from normal. Iori tries his best to avoid them but still gets dragged into their shenanigans.

So, if you have watched the anime and loved the escapades of Iori Kitahara, go ahead and watch this film.

Blade of the Immortal

Blade of the Immortal is another franchise that showcases the brutality of feudal Japan explicitly. The story follows Manji, an immortal Ronin who can only die with a rare poison. The film version of Blade of the Immortal also has many veteran actors like Takuya Kimura, Hana Sugisaki, Sota Fukushi etc.  We must give props to this movie for being daring enough to showcase the gory scenes as best as they could. Even the costumes and set designs were pretty top-notch, considering how iconic the manga and the anime are.

It all starts when Manji kills a corrupt lord and gets pursued by his followers. They target his sister to draw him out. But when that happens fate has other merciless plans for him that push him towards Rin Asano, a young girl, 52 years later.

Inuyashiki

From the makers of Gantz, we got this amazing manga with a pretty interesting story and twisted characters. The story is about two people, one, an older man and another, a high school boy, who accidentally get their hands on alien powers.

The movie adaptation has Noritake Kinashi, Takeru Satoh, Kanata Hongō, etc, who fit the bill nicely. If you liked the anime, you would definitely like the movie, as it does a decent job of depicting the narrative. The critics do point out how the visuals might not be as good as Hollywood, but still, they do great considering the budget.

The story follows Ichirō Inuyashiki, who is not winning at life in his old age. His family does not respect him or appreciate his efforts. But his life changes when he is forced to become the saviour of all, after becoming a superhuman.

Tokyo Revengers

Tokyo Revengers is a very famous anime franchise that deals with the biker gang culture of Japan. The theme of this anime is pretty complex and very interesting, as the concept of time travelling is involved with some dramatic elements. This franchise has three movie adaptations as of now, and all of them do a pretty decent job of portraying the storyline. But if I have to choose one, then it will be Tokyo Revengers Part 1, with which the whole story starts from Takemichi Hanagaki.

Takemichi is a failure of an adult who neither has friends nor a lover. One day, when he finds out about his ex-girlfriend’s accident, things change for him for the better or worse. He might get another chance to correct every decision of his life.

Death Note

Some Death Note fans might disagree with this choice, as for them, like myself, the anime adaptation is absolutely perfect and cannot be replaced. But we cannot deny that the movie live-action was still a decent watch. The characters of Light and L were portrayed by Tatsuya Fujiwara and Kenichi Matsuyama, who do a pretty nice job depicting their iconic characters. Its intense scenes were also acted out well, making this movie a big hit in Japan and Singapore.

The plot centres around Light Yagami, a genius high school boy who is bored with life. One day, he finds a mysterious diary and everything changes for him. And thus start, his quest to become the god that he thinks humanity needs.

And that is all. I hope you will like the films mentioned here and give them all a watch as soon as possible.
