The Kidnapping Day Episode 9 Recap

Episode 9 begins with a look into the past when Myung-joon was adopted by Choi Dong-euk only to be followed by Hye-eun who hid in the car. Upon arriving, her desperation to stay strikes Dong-euk’s interest and he has the two kids perform an IQ test based on which a child will be selected to stay back.

Next, we see Myung-joon’s return to the orphanage which brings the possibility that this is what made Myung-joon spiteful in front of Sang-yoon. Meanwhile, Hye-eun calls a dazed Myung-joon and shows him Hee-ae which brings him to tears while remembering that Ro-hee is still suffering somewhere out there.

Elsewhere, Jayden visits Eun-sun and asks her to withdraw her investment but she refuses as she wants to make sure her daughter receives the treatment for which she had initially invested. Jayden gives her a warning and asks her to reconsider before leaving but then comes across Sang-yoon at the reception.

Sang-yoon also sees him but heads over to meet Eun-sun and asks her about the Genius Child Project, letting her know that he is aware of this experiment. Eun-sun becomes alert because of this but refuses to reveal anything when Sang-yoon gets a call and heads over for the disciplinary meeting. There, he is given a month’s suspension from his duty.

However, this does not stop his investigation as he borrows a wiretapper from a colleague and plans to make Hye-eun and Park Cheol-won meet. Hye-eun rushes home when she sees the changes in Myung-joon while on call and sees that he has found the CCTV footage that she had hidden.

She tries to rush behind him but dashes into Sang-yoon and has to go along with him to meet Cheol-won. He then leaves them alone in the room while he hears their conversation from outside, but what he doesn’t know is that right when Hye-eun is about to reveal something she sees the red light from the wiretapper blinking on the floor.

Following this, two officers arrive there and refute him for arranging the meeting without permission and try to pry into what he is doing when he is saved by his colleague. He then finds out that no one knew about the wiretapper other than his colleague who gave it to him and the team captain.

Elsewhere, Myung-joon arrives at an internet cafe and sees the videos among which one footage shows Hye-eun entering the Choi house before the video ends. Right then two police officers arrive when two students damage the keyboards which makes Myung-joon rush out of the place.

Later, Sang-yoon meets Taek-kyun who does not reveal anything but asks Sang-yoon to protect Ro-hee. Elsewhere, Jayden meets Choi Dong-jun who asks him to make sure that Ro-hee remains dead before handing over the keys to the Choi house. While Jayden heads over to the Choi house, Myung-joon saves Eun-sun’s from his plan to kill her.

She takes him home and treats his hand; on the other hand, Jayden comes across a family picture and observes the necklace around Ro-hee. Right then, Sang-yoon arrives which makes him leave while he is unaware that he is being followed by someone. Sang-yoon too gets a call with information about Myung-joon before he leaves.

On the other hand, Ro-hee is traumatised by memories of people getting hurt or being killed in front of her which makes her vulnerable. Jayden then arrives and takes away her necklace as he believes that it must be the key to some information. The next day, Myung-joon overhears Eun-sun blurting out the place Ro-hee will be taken to and prepares to go there.

However, Sang-yoon’s arrival there makes them alert as he hides and makes use of the chance he gets to escape. Sang-yoon sees him and rushes behind him while Myung-joon races a car to Sokcho. Elsewhere, Ro-hee demands shrimp fried rice as she is allergic to it and could be her chance to escape.

Elsewhere, Jayden’s car is blocked and the one walking out of it is none other than Hye-eun. Another flashback shows how Hye-eun was unable to finish the IQ test on time and exchanged the tests at the last moment which later helped her stay back at the Choi house. Now, she introduces herself to Jayden as Choi Hye-eun.

The Kidnapping Day Episode 9 Review

Another set of surprising events has brought the twists and turns in this story to another level, and while we did doubt Hye-eun in the beginning, it is obvious that our doubt was slowly disappearing until today. After today’s episode, Hye-eun might as well soon be deemed the bigger villain in this show for now.

However, she is indeed a smart person from childhood to adulthood and I can only see her wedding to Myung-joon as part of her big plan. Meanwhile, Ro-hee is really desperate if she is ready to put her life on the line with her allergies and I am also looking forward to Myung-joon and Sang-yoon’s duo that we will hopefully see very soon.

Also, it looks like Sang-yoon is getting closer to discovering who the mole in the police team is. Altogether, the upcoming weeks are only going to get better and there is no bound to the excitement that is bubbling inside me.
