Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 Episode 8 Recap

Arthdal Chronicles The Sword of Aramun episode 8 begins with Saya letting Tanya know that his plan is nothing but following Mubaek’s wish of the three coming together and giving rise to a new world. He tells her that he and Eunseom have agreed to work together to bring the least amount of bloodshed as per Tanya’s request.

Meanwhile, Karat of the Momo tribe continues to feel the hospitality of the Ago people when Eunseom arrives and tells him that they do indeed need help from him. Karat chooses to insult Eunseom and refuses to be debated by any favour from him which will then compel Karat to repay the help.

Eunseom stays calm and lets him go without any strings attached but makes the prediction that Karat will kneel before him before sunrise. Karat is surprised by Eunseom’s calm self and fears him more after witnessing his reaction to his insults, right then, the Ago tribe soldiers arrive along with Eunseom.

Karat thinks that he has come for revenge when Eunseom shows the token given to him by the Momo tribe’s leader which makes Karat kneel in front of him to repay what is owed. Eunseom asks to help bring the iron boulder out of the lake and Karat readies his men for the same. Karat does not delay and moves fast, and in no time the boulder is brought out of the lake with Karat’s help.

However, a new problem arises as Hae Kkadak tells Eunseom that making enough swords will take at least six months as they still need to make preparations. Eunseom then asks him how long it would take if everything else will be taken care of and Hae Kkadak tells him that it would take a little over a month.

Back in Arthdal, Saya returns to see a ruthless Tagon who does not blink before killing his men in front of him. Later, he checks Saya’s arm to see if there is a wound and confirms that he is indeed the real Saya. He witnesses the crazy side of Tagon and wonders if what he sees is true.

Meanwhile, the ministers discuss the ongoing madness of Tagon when news of Taealha’s release arrives. Saya arrives to meet her and the two discuss the key needs of their upcoming plan; this includes the troops they need, the third corps and Tanya. Only with these three will they be able to carry out their plans. Tanya finds out about this and tells her people to not act even if she gets in trouble during the chaos.

In Ago, Suhana receives another message from Arthdal after which she goes to Eunseom who has a happy face. She asks him what she needs to prepare but before Eunseom can reveal news about the iron swords he sees the picture of the blade he drew back in Arthdal and understands that the spy is none other than Suhana.

He then makes up a reason on the spot and tells her a fake plan before leaving the tent. Meanwhile, Bakryangpung tries to lure Yeonbal and Gitoha to rebel against Tagon but fails in doing so. Elsewhere, Saya meets Chojaha who tries to instigate Saya to rebel against Tagon but Saya does not take the bait and their conversation ends.

The next day, another minister asks Tagon to take back his orders only to be rebuked and punished when Yeonbal and Gitoha storm inside the court. Yeonbal puts his life on the life and asks Tagon to take back his orders but Tagon does not listen. Seeing his friend in danger, Gitoha steps in but Tagon give them another execution sentence which leaves everyone shocked.

Elsewhere, Eunseom announces that they will be attacking Molabeol castle right away which leaves everyone surprised but no one objects. However, Eunseom notices the tension on Suhana’s face and once again confirms his suspicion that she is indeed the spy. He then arrives on top of a hill near the castle where the iron boulder is ready to smash into the castle.

While the Arthdal soldiers think it is a stone boulder and lower their guard, they soon realise that something is wrong but it is too late as the boulder has already reached its target and smashes right into the castle. The Ago soldiers cheer and soon follow to attack the enemy. Meanwhile, Tagon tries to negotiate with Yeonbal and Gitoha to let them free but the two refuse his offer and are ready to die.

The next day, the execution takes place and Tagon announces that their bodies are to be hung up with no permission for anyone to bring them down. This leaves the men under the two shocked as Yangcha takes the lead to ask Tanya to guide their souls to freedom by performing a ceremony for them.

Tanya understands what is happening and accepts Yangcha’s request who then goes to the other rebels and passes on Tanya’s approval. While they prepare for the big event ahead, Chaeeun meets Nunbyeol and asks her to keep safe no matter what is to happen. Elsewhere, Taealha and Tagon share their grieves and regrets in each others’ company as they warn each other of the future.

At the temple, Saya tells Tanya about the escape route he has prepared for her but Tanya tells him that she will not use it as they need to welcome Eunseom to the capital together. Saya’s eyes then fall on the sword of Aramun and he realises that Eunseom has a hand in creating this sword of Aramun.

It is finally time for the plan to kill Tagon to be executed and while Nunbyeol arrives in his chamber to find the right time to attack Tagon, Tanya begins the ceremony while the other two proceed to ambush Tagon. While everything seems to go smoothly, Tanya soon realises that something is about to go wrong when the ceremony comes to an abrupt end as two people she is praying for are actually alive.

Chaeeun too sees surprising faces among the soldiers entering the city and rushes to Saya to tell him that they have been tricked. Right then Yeonbal and Gitoha arrive in front of him and they confront him for being a traitor. It turns out that Chojaha had betrayed them and this was all Tagon’s plan right from the beginning.

Taealha is also caught before she can reach Tagon, while the man himself confronts Nunbyeol and calls her naive for assuming that she will able to kill him. Seeing his contempt, Nunbyeol no longer holds back and shows her real self which is a surprise Tagon really wasn’t expecting.

Nunbyeol does not delay any longer and begins her attack.

Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 Episode 8 Review

Episode 8 came as a surprise and proved that this show will not be ending with just one failed rebellion. The real fun has started and will be upheld until the end of the season which only makes us excited for the upcoming episodes.

Adding on, seeing Tagon whistle after so long was a real pleasure for fans of the show as we all knew that huge chaos was coming when he started humming. The ending of this episode was definitely intense and filled with surprises which makes me wonder how the show is set to end.
