Fair Play Ending Explained: Fair Play is a brand new erotic thriller movie which is written and directed by Chloe Domont. Produced by Tim White and Trevor White among others, the movie stars Phoebe Dynevor as Emily, Alden Ehrenreich as Luke, Eddie Marsan as Campbell, Rich Sommer as Paul, Sebastian de Souza as Rory and Geraldine Somerville as Emily’s mother.

Menno Mans does the cinematography and Brian McOmber gives the music. The plot of the series follows a happy couple working at a hedge fund firm but they have kept their relationship a secret due to company policy. However, after Emily gets an unexpected promotion in the company, their relationship starts to take a bad turn.

The film premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2023. Shortly after, the movie was released in select theatres on September 29, 2023, before streaming on Netflix on October 6, 2023.

Fair Play Ending Explained

Luke started to show signs of insecurity soon after Emily got the job of PM in the company. She remained loyal to him and helped him as much as she could to raise his position in the company. However, he did not approve of her going around and networking with her bosses. Moreover, he constantly belittled her achievements by saying that she got the job because she was an attractive woman and not because of her talents. Tensions started to grow as a wall came between the both of them and it was only growing bigger.

What happened to Luke?

After another PM was fired from his job, Luke wanted to take the opportunity to grab the position. He asked Emily to pitch for him but she refused as the boss was busy. But Luke went ahead and asked the boss to give him a chance. He gave an elaborate speech in front of everyone which caused a huge commotion in the office. However, the boss informed him that he had given the job to another employee which crushed Luke’s self-esteem.

Why did Luke and Emily break up?

The incident led to another fight between the couple. Luke started to accuse her of stealing his job and that she did not deserve the position. Then she finally revealed the truth and said that the boss did not want to promote him, instead, he wanted to fire him because of his incompetency. Following that he disappeared for hours and came back to the office and created a scene. He cussed at the boss in front of the clients and also revealed the secret relationship between Emily.

Emily went to the engagement party and asked him for answers but he did not have any reply. They started to get intimate during the fight but she asked him to stop when she started to feel uncomfortable. However, he lost control and ended up sexually assaulting her.

Why did Emily stab Luke?

When she returns home, she finds Luke with all the things packed and ready to leave. She got angry at him for not refusing to apologize to her. So she takes a knife and walks up to him demanding an apology. When he refused to do so, she stabbed his arm. He started to sob at the action and apologised to her for what he did. Following that, she asked him to get out of the house and they broke up.
