The Kidnapping Day Episode 7 Recap and Review: A Genius Plan and a Road to Escape

The Kidnapping Day (유괴의 날) is a comedy thriller Kdrama directed by Park Yoo-young and based on the novel of the same Korean name “Yugwaei Nal” by writer Jung Hae-yeon. The drama stars Yoon Kye-sang, Park Sung-hoon, Yu Na, Kim Shin-rok, Kim Sang-ho, and Seo Je-hee alongside other cast members.

The drama tells the story of a helpless father who accepts the idea of Kidnapping a rich kid goes wrong when he finds out that the little one’s parents are dead. The little girl has already lost her memory due to an accident before her kidnapping and the man claims to be her father. However, the little girl soon uncovers his web of lies while he tries to investigate what really happened.

The show will have 12 episodes and be broadcast on ENA at the Wednesday-Thursday slot at 9:00 PM KST previously occupied by Longing for YouThe Kidnapping Day episode 7 has a run time of 62 minutes.

The synopsis of the show reads:

A father turned clumsy kidnapper and a genius child working together to uncover the truth behind a series of murders and mysteries.

Episode 7 begins with Ro-hee making Myung-joon call Choi Taek-kyun and negotiate the price to return Ro-hee to her family. Taek-kyun understands what is going on and asks to talk to Ro-hee who then explains her plan to him and promises to make him her guardian in exchange for his help.

He agrees while news of Ro-hee being thrown into the sea continues to make news headlines. Later, Myung-joon asks Ro-hee why she trusts him so much and she tells him that Taek-kyun was her homeschool teacher. Myung-joon then asks her how they would get the money when Ro-hee tells him that Mo Eun will help them with this task.

She sees a shadow listening to their conversation and understands that it is Mo Eun; she tells Myung-joon that Mo Eun needs her to cure her daughter which makes her more trustworthy to help out in this situation. Elsewhere, Sang-yoon finds out that the kidnapping case will be given to someone else when Hye-eun shows up.

She tells him all about what happened 30 years ago and how she was adopted by Choi Dong-eok for his experiments but because she could not impress him she was sent back while another child was adopted. Hye-eun then tells him that Park Cheon-wol was always guilty of harming her which gave her HIV and had made sure that she got through her education by supporting her throughout the years.

However, the two once again met at Choi Dong-euk’s funeral where he found out that her condition had relapsed. She then wonders if he killed Choi Jin-tae because of her which gets her stirred, however, she is further shocked when Sang-yoong tells her about what Myung-joon has done to Ro-hee.

She does not believe this and denies it with everything. The Sang-yoon asks if she is connected to the kidnapping in any way which she once again denies with full confidence, bringing the interrogation to an end. Later, Sang-yoon sends her off by saying that he doesn’t believe Myung-joon is a criminal and she too agrees to this statement.

Meanwhile, Jayden arrives at the Choi house where the murders happened with Choi Dong-jun and looks around for anything that can lead him to the medicines used by Choi Jin-tae. Right then Dong-jun gets a call and finds out that someone has been blackmailing them to release news of Ro-hee being alive and tarnishing Dong-jun’s reputation.

Jayden does not believe this and asks Taek-kyun about the person who called only to be told that it was a woman. Following this, he hurries to where Ro-hee is when he finds another piece of information related to Myung-joon on the way. Meanwhile, Myung-joon and Ro-hee have their pictures taken on the balcony.

Later, Ro-hee makes a deal with Mo Eun and successfully reels her into her plan. Right then, Jayden comes back and attacks Myung-joon while asking about his connection with Hye-eun and how he made her trick Tae-kyun and ask for a ransom. Myung-joon denies her connection to the kidnapping but fails and when Jayden keeps the gun on his head, Ro-hee can no longer watch by and spills the truth.

Jayden leaves them alone and heads off while Ro-hee contemplates Hye-eun’s past and if Myung-joon knew about her connection with Park Cheol-won. Jayden later subtly blackmails Mo Eun before she returns home to he daughter. The next day, Jayden tries to capture Hye-eun but has to stop when he sees a police vehicle following her.

While Sang-yoon tries to find out more information from the hospital about the two doctors, Jayden finds out that the kidnapper has sent another message. Tae-kyun plays the video sent to his mail in front of Jayden and Dong-jun which leaves them shocked. As his men continue to look the his suspects, they notice Hye-eun rushing off to somewhere.

Right then a call arrives and upon picking it a woman’s voice flows as it instructs them on how to send the money to them. However, Jayden is not ready to give up so soon, especially after confirming that the voice is not Hye-eun’s because his men had been following her. Right then the voice sends a social media link to give him a preview of what would happen if he defied her, thus, he has no choice but to give in.

They also hear the voice of Ro-hee screaming from the other end of the call which leaves them speechless as Ro-hee is still under their watchful eyes. Thus, Jayden has no choice but to adhere to the request and get rid of this nuisance. Meanwhile, Mo Eun who was on the other end of the call also breathes a sigh of relief and goes back to treating her patients.

Later, Myung-joon and Ro-hee are separated into their respective rooms wherein the latter sends the former a phone and Sang-yoon’s card which is hidden in her food. She makes the guard pass the food onto Myung-joon who is prepared for the next plan of action. Elsewhere, the money is prepared while Sang-yoon finds out about a car following the cops who are keeping an eye on Hye-eun.

Soon, the money is sent to the respective places while Myung-joon receives the signal and fights off the guards in the house. Elsewhere, Jayden catches Mo Eun and Taek-kyung, calling out on the mole. Meanwhile, Sang-yoon emerges from the garbage truck that had been carrying the money and captures Ho-young along with others.

The real twists are turns have now begun and we can already see many hidden elements in this episode which will not be easy to crack open. This episode has brought in a new perspective of Hye-eun to me and now I am really not sure what she is trying to do. Meanwhile, Myung-joon and Ro-hee are doing pretty well as they show vulnerability and strength.

The story is ready to take the big turns moving forward and we cannot wait for what the next episode is set to bring.
