Although Jaane Jaan may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but even then, there’s no denying that the Sujoy Ghosh directorial’s leading men have casted their spell on the audience. The movie hd largely targeted netizens’ emotions on primarily being packaged as Kareena Kapoor Khan’s OTT film debut, but we can’t sideline the other two main cast members just yet, especially when they’ve already established their intimidating command over the thriller genre.

Ahlawat plays the eccentric role of a Maths teacher in Jaane Jaan, and despite his performance being the most lowkey among the leading lot of actors, he inspires a sense of trepidation with his shady portrayal of Naren in the Hindi mystery thriller. Conversely, Vijay Varma switches sides to play a rather spirited relentless cop named Karan.

Jaideep Ahlawat Movies and TV Shows

Paatal Lok (Amazon Prime Video).

Best known for playing Delhi Police Inspector Hathiram Chaudhary in the 2020 Jaideep Ahlawat web series. Not only did he lead the show as a cynical cop who’s dragged to the dark side of the underworld on being assigned a high-profile investigation, he also won awards in style for the same. He was honoured as the Best Actor in a Drama Series at the 2020 Filmfare OTT Awards and bagged the Best Actor trophy at the 2021 Indian Television Academy Awards.

Gangs of Wasseypur (Netflix)

The 2012 Anurag Kashyap directorial gangster action crime film finally made everyone notice Jaideep Ahlawat on the map of Hindi cinema. He played the role of Shahid Khan, the patriarch of the Khan family, aka Sardar’s (played by Manoj Bajpayee) father. As the notorious dacoit, his character’s misfortunate reversal of fate is what kicked the movie’s franchise into action.

An Action Hero (Netflix)

The 2022 action film sees Ahlawat step into the shoes of Bhoora Singh Solanki as he locked horns with Ayushmann Khurrana’s Maanav Khuranna. He played the antagonist in the film, and though An Action Hero didn’t fare well at the box office, Jaideep’s performance became one of the major highlights of the movie that was otherwise praised by critics and fans.

Raazi (Amazon Prime Video)

Playing the role of RAW Agent Manav Chaudhary, aka Khalid Mir, in this Alia Bhatt-Vicky Kaushal starrer 2018 spy thriller film, Ahlawat proved that even when he’s on the sidelines, he still has the power to conquer the screen with his diverse expressions and command over his character. Instead of resorting wholly to his dialogues, he let his eyes speak for him in this movie.

Vijay Varma Movies and TV Shows

Darlings (Netflix)

In one of his signature performances as Hamza Shaikh, an alcoholic abusive husband to Alia Bhatt’s Badru, Varma made us all love hating him. This particular gaslighting character event took a toll on the actor himself as he went on to claim that watching himself in the movie was a “difficult experience”. Regardless of that, the fact that we all are scared of his abilities as an actor after this role goes to great lengths in consolidating his powerhouse dedication and immersion into a role.

Dahaad (Amazon Prime Video)

Among one of the recent Vijay Varma web series of 2023, the actor played the role of Anand Swarnakar, the ultimate sinister antagonist in the crime thriller web series. His character has been inspired by a real-life serial killer, which makes the show’s mood and tone even more forbidding, further enhanced by Varma’s unnerving portrayal of the character who faces off against Sub-Inspector Anjali Bhaati (Sonakshi Sinha).

Mirzapur Season 2 (Amazon Prime Video)

Here, Vijay entered Season 2 of the action crime thriller web series for playing the dual role of the Tyagi twins – Shatrugan and Bharat. The sequel ended on a cliffhanger for his characters, and the mystery surrounding them will be dug up again in the third instalment which is expected to release in the latter quarter of 2023.

Pink (Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video)

Many of us remember Varma as Gully Boy‘s Moeen Arif, but we tend to forget his rise to prominence with this 2016 movie. And that’s probably because of how upsettingly antagonistic his role as Ankit Malhotra was. It was his first time playing an onscreen negative character and the fear he struck with his performance earned him a spot in the circle of mainstream discussions.
