Moving Ending Explained: Did the North Koreans Kill Doo-sik?

Moving Ending Explained: Directed by Park In-je and written by Kang Full, who also wrote the webcomic on which the series is based, Moving is a sci-fi mystery action-thriller Korean drama series starring Lee Jung-ha, Kim Do-hoon, Ko Yoon-jung, Han Hyo-joo, Ryu Seung-ryong, Zo In-sung and Kwak Sun-young in lead roles. The 20-part series released 7 episodes on August 9, 2023, each with 50-60 minutes runtime. Every Wednesday, the show will air two episodes and wrap the series with three episodes on September 20, 2023.

The sci-fi drama (무빙) follows three students, Kim Bong-seok, Jang Hee-soo and Lee Gang-hoon, who have special powers that they must keep hidden from the outside world. The special powers, which include that of flight (Bong-seok), academic brilliance & regenerative healing (Hee-soo) and uncanny power & speed (Gang-hoon), passed down from their parents can and might be used by unsavoury individuals. As the students try to navigate teenage and the pressures of school while juggling with their powers, the parents try their best to keep their children safe away from prying eyes.

Lee Jung-ha was last seen in 2021’s Nevertheless, Do-hoon’s last venture was 2022’s The Law Cafe, and Yoon-jung was last seen in 2022’s Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow and Alchemy of Souls.

Moving Ending Explained

The North Korean superhumans start fighting off the South Korean superhumans as well as their kids as per the order given by the North Korean general. When Mi-hyun finds a student, Kisoo in danger, she wipes off the North Korean superhuman by shooting him. Similarly, Ju-won handles North Korean superhuman Kwang-jae. Deok-yoon, the troupe leader, sees his fellow North Korean warriors’ corpses and bids them farewell.

Meanwhile, at the gym, Dong-geun is handled by Bong-seok and Hee-soo. Dong-geun returns to the school to control the chaos there. Hearing about his mother, Bong-seok charges towards the school as well. A heated fight starts when Jae-man joins to save Gang-hoon. Ju-won and Jae-man join together to finish off Kwang-jae and the other superhumans. Successfully they do so however Kwang-jae escapes because his best friend gives his own life to let him live a peaceful new life.

When Kwang-jae walks out of the school, he breaks down. Hee-soo who is on her way to the school finds the man and comforts him not knowing who he is. At the school, Gye-do comes on time and saves Bong-seok from the hands of Dong-geun. Deok-yoon rushes Dong-geun to fly back to North Korea. Deok-yoon fights with Ju-won and Mi-hyun before killing himself. It’s understood that he never meant to harm the kids but only came to get the files.

The chaos ends and all the superhumans return to their homes. The graduation day arrives and Bong-seok doesn’t join since he is busy saving the world as an anonymous superhero. In North Korea, Dong-geun takes the position of Dook-yeon and kills the general who cost the lives of many.

Is Doo-sik Alive?

Dong-geun goes to the solitary confinement cell and releases Doo-sik. He gives him a gun and asks him to take care of his son whose life is at stake. Doo-sik arrives in South Korea and kills both Rae-hyuk and Min. Then he returns to Mi-hyun and Bong-seok and the family happily unite. Ju-won takes Kwang-jae as his store staff and gives him a new life. Hee-soo calls Kwang-jae her uncle and the three are seen sharing a beautiful bond.

Ju-won feels proud at the thought of his grown-up daughter. He remembers about Ji-hee and the happy ending she wanted. He smiles to himself as he believes he indeed fulfilled the happy ending he promised to his wife.

Post Credit Scene

After the credits, we see Mr. Min’s assistant bowing to another head of the South Korean National Intelligence who is none but Ma-gu, one of Min’s assistants (and the enemy of Doo-sik). It is understood that the mission will continue since previously even Gang-hoon joined the intelligence. Additionally, towards the end, we see that Frank is still alive and the American CIA is requesting another agent named Elias, and the purpose is unknown.
