The Uncanny Counter Season 2: 3 Things That Left Us Disappointed in This Sequel!

With the end of The Uncanny Counter season 2, there is no doubt that fans are already missing the show while hoping to get another season of the Counters’ blast. However, while the sequel has been a treat for fans of the show, we are also left with some disappointment that cannot be ignored.

The Uncanny Counter Season 2 (경이로운 소문 2: 카운터 펀치) brings the return of the supernatural mystery comedy-drama of the same name directed by Yoo Seon-dong. The show stars Cho Kyeong-kyu, Yoo Joon-sang, Kim Se-jeong, Yeom Hye-ran, Ahn Suk-hwan, and Yoo In-soo in the lead roles alongside other cast members.

The new season continues the story of the group of Counters who catch evil spirits from the afterlife who have come searching for immortality. With new members joining the gang and bigger evils coming their way, the Counters are ready for a counterattack and stop anyone who comes their way.

The Counters did deliver a spectacular sequel with a banger start and a fulfilling ending. From the power upgrades of both the heroes and the villains, the plot brought out this season was a definite treat for us all. Even better was the wide range this season took by including the Counters from other places who are also saving the world in their way.

While there wasn’t much detail on this particular aspect we still saw a glimpse of it, which left us excited. This brings us to the point of how while there were many amazing points this season, there were also those that left us disappointed. Fans surely had many hopes for this season which were not fulfilled and we are here to count them out so that we soon get another season that will fulfil these wishes.

With this, here are 3 things that left us disappointed in The Uncanny Counter season 2!

The Uncanny Counter Season 2: 3 Things That Had Us Disappointed

So Mun and Do Ha-na Ship That Never Sails

Let’s begin with the one ship we hoped to set sail all season only to be disappointed when even a single hug was rejected brutally. While Ha-na’s heartbreaking past love came to an end, we really hoped that at least this time we would get to see something between her and So Mun. I guess we expected too much to happen within these 12 episodes which left us with empty hearts when their amazing chemistry was waster yet again.

The Characters and Their Plot

This season had quite a well-put-together group of actors who brought their characters to life, however, there just wasn’t enough attention given to their stories. While the Counters were shown interacting with others outside the group, there just wasn’t enough time and plot poured into the interactions. It is true that Do-hwi, Han-ul and Jae-youl did not get enough of a plot other than being important to the Counters when needed.

Similarly, even the antagonists Gelly and Wong were surprisingly without much story to them and were only brought to add to extending the plot. While Pil-gwang was definitely given a better flow for obvious reasons, his sidekicks were without a start and appeared to give the Counters some fighting scenes and to be finished off.

Too Much Yet, Just Not Enough!

Finally, the 12 episodes were not enough yet seemed too much for the plot. While so much more could have been done by bettering the main plot, the addition of other stories made it a mixture of incomplete plots and hard to focus on the main story. Meanwhile, with more episodes, maybe all these other stories could have gotten their much-deserved attention which would have been a treat to us all.

Thus, while Ju-seok clearly took over the show with his storyline, everyone else’s aura seemed to be weakened. Along with this came a long string of predictability which only added fuel to the fire and left us wondering if this was truly what we had been hoping for all this while.

Altogether, while the show brought in many hopes for us, it was also disappointing to a certain extent. While the shots of the actors and the hilarious exchange between them did keep us entertained, it wasn’t all satisfying.

However, it is still a show that you cannot miss because there are many other elements that will make this season worthwhile. Now, the only thing missing is The Uncanny Counter season 3 which will wipe out all these negatives and bring back the Counters whom we are already missing.

With this, watch The Uncanny Counter season 2 on Netflix.
