Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 7 Review: The seventh Episode of the anime series premiered on September 7, 2023. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 (呪術廻戦 or Sorcery Fight) much-anticipated anime of this season, is finally out, and the fans cannot keep calm. Directed by Sunghoo Park, the show is animated under MAPPA Studio. With Sayaka Koiso and Tadashi Hiramatsu designing the characters, Yoshimasa Terui is the sole composer of the series. Tatsuya Kitani performed the opening theme, Where Our Blue Is (青のすみか), while Soushi Sakiyama performed the ending theme, Light (燈).

The anime is scheduled for two cours, the first five episodes adapted the manga’s Hidden Inventory arc, and the upcoming eighteen other episodes will showcase the Shibuya arc. Licensed under Crunchyroll, the episodes will be available with English subtitles, and the dubbed version will be released later on.

Based on the manga series of the same name by Gege Akutami, the story follows high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers in order to kill a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the host. However, the new season will consist of various aspects of the story which the audience has been wondering about. Each episode has a runtime of 20-25 minutes.

After a mellow start, the Shibuya arc opens with a majestic sequence that exceeds every expectation. The new season will substantially change the direction of the plot. Moreover, the characters will also face some of the most traumatic events that will significantly lead to their growth and development in the series.

In the latest episode, Mechamaru and the arc’s lead antagonist, Mahito, face off against each other in an intense battle. Mahito has been an unstoppable menace since the previous season, and he continues to do so in the current one. With Mechamaru out of the way, he can now finally commence the plan that he has been waiting to execute for a long time.

Moreover, we get a taste of Geto’s real power and how he will play a key role in the plot. There is still confusion surrounding the character as to how he is alive after Gojo killed him in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Although we will not receive every answer this time, we are slowly walking towards the truth behind his comeback. Geto was one of the most important people in Gojo’s life also increases the anticipation.

Needless to say that the animation by MAPPA Studio remains one of the best in the anime world. The team has very successfully showcased each scene with intricate details that keep the audience on their toes. Additionally, the team has achieved to seamlessly created a fusion of technical prowess and the art of creative storytelling.

The voice actors have also done a fantastic job of vividly bringing the characters to life. Every emotion can be expressed while they give the characters their own distinctive personalities and personal touches. When someone passes away suddenly, emotions are high, but the satisfying ending will make viewers feel conflicted.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 7 Review: Final Thoughts

The new episode is exciting and thrilling from start to the end. With a magnificent battle sequence, the episode prepares everyone for what waits ahead of us next. Moreover, we understand the story of some of the side characters better, which also adds substance to the plot. The animation remains top-tier, as usual. With minor changes to the character design, the studio focuses more on the bigger picture this time which enhances the viewing experience.
