Lending a hand to women’s voices and the intricacies of human relationships, Love Sex and 30 Candles is coming to Netflix this month. Directed by Stephina Zwane and produced by Salamina Mosese, the film is set to expand the growing South African catalogue on the OTT platform that has proudly grabbed the attention of its target demographic, thus gaining an upper hand in the arena. Once again, the mere trailer of the upcoming movie has lit up a wide smile on the audience’s faces.
Movies like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Girls Trip, Bridesmaids and more have previously unravelled similar themes via different approaches – sometimes drama, sometimes romance and even comedy. Love Sex and 30 Candles Cast
Amogelang Chidi or Amo Chidi as Dikeledi, Gabisile Tshabalala as Sade, Candice Modiselle as Linda, and Bahumi Madisakwane as Nolwazi play the titular four best friends leading the major plot of the film. Additionally, Terence Bridgett, Lunga Shabalala, Loyiso Macdonald, Clementine Mosimane, Anthony Oseyemi and Iminathi Sibeko will also seen in pivotal roles.
Love Sex and 30 Candles Movie Plot/Storyline
Based on Angela Makholwa’s book The 30th Candle, the soon to release movie highlights what a turning point the age of 30 is. First putting up a picture-perfect image of fairytale-like happiness, its trailer envisions the close-knit community of sisterhood built for each other by these four best friends. Believing in the myth that all is fine and well as long as you have your friends and family by your side, they continue with their respective lives, sharing pieces of it with each other.

However, as soon as they hit the not so sweet age of 30, Dikeledi, Sade, Linda and Nolwazi’s support system is tested to the fullest as more hardships start to arise in their relationships. When one of them is found to be pregnant, it initially becomes a matter of celebration, but eventually, all their smiles come crumbling down as secrets of the past endanger all that they’ve built with each other so far. Shocking revelations and heartbreaks lie ahead for them. Will they be able to rise above the storm and keep their friendship alive despite it all? Stay tuned to find out.
