All of us have seen Call Me By Your Name, right? Timothee Chalamet proved that he is here for the long run and he is not to be trifled with. In films like Beautiful Boy and Lady Bird, he made it clear that behind that innocent face lies a river of emotions that he can plunge into at any given time. His role in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune further makes him a part of that body of credible actors who can be trusted with larger-than-life dramas, especially science fiction, something that Nolan often explores in his movies.

Jake Gyllenhaal

While we may remember Jake Gyllenhaal from Nightcrawler, Source Code, and most recently Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant, the same guy was in Enemy, Prisoners, Wildlife and Zodiac. He is one of the actors whose range cannot be defined. His ability to pull off characters that are an exploration of the human mind is extraordinary, and this itself makes him perfect for a Christopher Nolan movie.

Denzel Washington

The dopest actor on the planet as per the late Chadwick Boseman, and rightfully so, Denzel Washington’s career itself makes him perfect for Christopher Nolan. From Malcolm X to The Tragedy of Macbeth, from Philadelphia to Flight, and from Glory to The Taking of Pelham 123, there is no role that the guy cannot do. An actor of his calibre makes it rather difficult for the director to decide whether a particular role is worthy of him. However, what we would not give to see him in a Christopher Nolan movie.

Willem Dafoe

Another strong candidate for Nolan who likes to dive deep into the psychology of things, Willem Dafoe’s face is a landscape that only an IMAX camera can do justice to capturing. Many of us have already admitted to the fact that he would be perfect as the Joker. This means that Dafoe is apt for a character whose mind plays a role in a movie as much as the body. Thus, he would indeed be a great choice for Christopher Nolan. If you want to have a taste of Dafoe’s mastery, watch Inside, Antichrist, The Lighthouse, At Eternity’s Gate and The Last Temptation of Christ. You must have already seen Spider-Man, so I’m not mentioning that here.

Bradley Cooper

Silver Linings Playbook, Burnt, American Hustle, The Place Beyond the Pines, Nightmare Alley and American Sniper; Bradley Cooper has an exclusive string of movies to his name that showcase his ability to become the character he is playing, mentally and physically. I personally think that he would be a great choice if Christopher Nolan decides to make a movie that is dark.

Jennifer Aniston

While Jennifer Aniston is known for her light roles in movies like The Good Girl, Horrible Bosses, Bruce Almighty, The Object of My Affection and Wanderlust, Apple TV’s The Morning Show proved that there’s more to her than meets the eye. And only a brave director like Christopher Nolan can use her to portray a character that is completely opposite to the kind of roles she has been playing for decades now.

Saoirse Ronan

A young actress with the talent to pull off the toughest roles, Saoirse Ronan was born for a Christopher Nolan movie. If you have seen Mary Queen of Scots, Brooklyn, Little Women, Ammonite, See How They Run, and Lady Bird, you will know what I mean. Her face is another element, just like with Willem Dafoe, which is a landscape waiting to be read by the most seasoned travellers walking down the lane of filmmaking. Needless to say, a worthy Nolan ingredient.

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock is another actress whom we would love to watch in a Nolan movie because she deserves the grandeur. Be it in Gravity, The Blind Side, The Unforgivable or Miss Congeniality; she has proved that she knows very well how to take charge of her character and make it evident. Despite all the movies she has been a part of, I feel that her true potential hasn’t been tapped into yet. Perhaps, only Nolan can do that.

Octavia Spencer

My personal favourite on this list, Octavia Spencer is one of the most underrated actors who is just waiting for the right opportunity to prove herself. Her talent as an actor can be seen in Ma, Hidden Figures, The Shack, Encounter and in the little role she played in Gifted. As much as I hate not seeing her in more films, I believe that not many directors realize what she is capable of. Keeping in mind just what Nolan was able to pull out of Robert Downey Jr., no doubt Spencer will prove herself big time too.

Kate Winslet

A seasoned actor who doesn’t need to prove how good she is, Kate Winslet is easily worthy of the larger-than-life world that Nolan builds through his movies. Perhaps, he could take her in his next biopic. Movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Revolutionary Road, Ammonite, Sense and Sensibility, Little Children, and Carnage are some of her best performances and that by any female actor ever. She is an actor who can carry a lot of weight in her character, which is an added advantage when playing one in a Nolan movie.
