5 Friendship Betrayals That’s Hard to Get Over: Cassie-Maddy From Euphoria, Faiza-Tara From Made in Heaven and Others

Friendship betrayals are not the most ideal list one would want to look at during Friendship Day. However, it is always a pivotal storyline in most movies and series, giving it complexity and depth. Moreover, there are always certain life lessons you can take away from these story arcs making them an important contribution to our real life, in general. Because, let us be honest friends who betray are easier to find than the ones who will stand with you during the worst times, right?

Here are some classic friendship betrayals from TV shows that we can never get over (and, we think you can’t too). Take a guess and a leap of faith as you dive in to find out our top picks in this category!

5 Friendship Betrayals That Are Too Hard To Get Over

Cassie and Maddy from Euphoria

Cassie Howard (Sydney Sweeney) and Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie) became interchangeable names for the fans after the first season. The two besties have been together for so long and seen it all and still picked up each other. They have chosen each other, again and again, until they did not. In the second season, Nate (Maddy’s toxic boyfriend) becomes a person of concern. Cassie ends up falling head over heels in love with Nate, betraying Maddy in the process.

Although Cassie did start seeing Nate while he was not with Maddy, Maddy and Nate’s relationship is so complicated with the off-again, on-again aspect to it that he is that man you would never break the girl code for. Unfortunately, Cassie does. It does not end well but, the world did get an iconic turn of friendship with the spicy line: “B*tch, you better be joking” (nail clap sounds).

Joey and Chandler from FRIENDS

Here is the reason why we would say we love Joey (Matt LeBlanc) a little more than we can ever love Chandler (Matthew Perry)! Of course, Chandler is the funniest guy in the group but, Joey has to be the most loyal and kind one. During the running of the show, one of the key storylines was Chandler developing feelings for one of Joey’s love interests named Kathy. To make matters worse, Kathy was also very much interested in Chandler. The man really tried to keep it in his pants but, a lapse of judgement got him betraying Joey by kissing Kathy behind the latter’s back.

Chandler was regretful but, as Joey rightly told him that he would never do it! He not only forgave Chandler, but they also continued to be best friends even after Kathy was long gone from both their lives. The saying, bros before h*es really comes to into play here, if you ask us.

Faiza and Tara in Made in Heaven

This might just be the most ironic betrayal in the lot because it really does not make sense and yet it makes sense, we have no idea how to put it but, you understand us, right? Faiza (Kalki Koechlin) is so kind and sweet to Tara (Sobhita Dhulipala) from the moment she enters Adil’s (Jim Sarbh) life as his wife. She is the one teaching Tara how to be a high-society wife, live life and even enjoy it. The friendship the two share is so mature yet intimate that it makes you root for them.

So it is really sad and unfortunate, that Faiza betrays Tara by having an affair with Adil. It seems inevitable with the dynamics and complexities the show portrays. It is very real that the people closest to you might not always do things that help or benefit you. But, this is a friendship we did not want to see fall apart because of a man and, it hurts.

Hanna and Mona from Pretty Little Liars

Fans did beat their head out figuring out who on earth was ‘A’ for the longest time. But just like the unexpected Gossip Girl twist of Dan turning out to be GG, we had Mona Vanderwaal (Janel Parrish) ultimately confess that it was her threatening her bestie Hanna (Ashley Benson) and her little group of friends. It was a betrayal to save her friendship with Hanna as she thought the other girls took away Hanna in some sense but, it did get out of hand and was so messy that it is no wonder Hanna could never forgive or trust Mona after the revelation.

Kara and Lena from Supergirl

One would think that Supergirl aka Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) is the only one who might escape a list like this but, our superhero has her own sad story. We knew from the start that Kara and Lena’s (Katie McGrath) friendship would not be an ideal match, given how Lena is the sister of Superman’s (Kara’s brother’s) nemesis, Lex Luthor. All seems to be going well until in the fifth season we see Lena confessing to Kara that she is the one responsible for her brother’s death. Not shocking but, yes, overwhelming.

Although Lena regrets the incident, the matter only goes downhill with Kara being mistrusted and betrayed by her best friend and trapped.

Are there some other friendship betrayals that should have been on this list? Let us know about it in the comments below!
