Heartstopper Season 2 Plot

Heartstopper Season 2 follows Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson’s new romance after they confessed their feelings for each other in the last season. As they enter their boyfriend era, Nick is forced to consider making their relationship official in school. Coming out isn’t easy and this season covers that through Nick’s journey. Another romance is also seen blooming this season and it’s between Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney). The two characters find themselves taking their friendship to the next level and exploring romantic feelings for each other.

Heartstopper Season 2 Ending Explained

The last episode of the season is a special one considering it covers one of the most important milestones for the lead characters as they attend Prom. Over the course of the season, we see Charlie and Nick get closer and more honest with one another. Following their school trip to Paris, Nick also feels more confident to confirm their relationship and eventually decides to come out on Instagram by posting a cosy snap with his boyfriend. The two then decide to attend their first prom together as a couple and it’s a dreamy affair.

The prom night isn’t without any hiccups though as Tara (Corinna Brown) is surprised to find that her date, Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) is a no-show. Worried about what might have happened, Tara arrives at her girlfriend’s home while the latter makes it to prom at the very last minute.

After her ‘Safe Place’ project is chosen for an exhibition, Elle secures a place at Lambert School Of Art. Before moving away to attend the same though, Elle celebrates her prom with Tao as they take to the dance floor to create some heartwarming memories.

Charlie Almost Drops the ‘L’ Word

Nick celebrates a prom after-party at his place where he also gets to spend more quality time with his boyfriend. The duo go through a lot this season including Nick standing up to his homophobic brother and also coming out to his father. In the final episode though, the couple are seen sharing a warm moment. During this personal time together, the two share an open conversation about Charlie’s bullying past and the trauma caused by the same. It’s a sweet, intimate moment and soon after when Charlie leaves Nick’s house, he is seen typing an ‘I Love You’ message to Nick, although we don’t know if he hits send.

With a third season confirmed for Heartstopper, it seems it will be revealed later whether Charlie confessed his love for Nick and whether his feelings are reciprocated or not. There is a slight moment of hesitation that we see on Charlie’s face and it will certainly be interesting to see where writer Alice Oseman will take us from here for Season 3.

Heartstopper is streaming on Netflix.
