10 Upcoming Indian Movies of 2023

Jailer

Starring superstar Rajnikanth, Tamannaah, Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar and Ramya Krishnan, Jailer is an action comedy movie directed by Nelson Dilipkumar (Beast, Doctor, Kolamaavu Kokila, Good Luck Jerry). Any new movie that features Rajnikanth is a festival, especially in South India. This one shall be no different. Its song titled Kaavaali has already garnered millions of views which is another sign of people’s excitement for the movie itself. The movie will hit theatres on August 10, 2023.

Jawan

Perhaps the most highly anticipated movie in any list of 10 upcoming Indian Movies of 2023 is Jawan. Directed by Atlee Kumar (Bigil, Mersal, Theri), the movie stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, and Sanjay Dutt along with a special appearance from Deepika Padukone. The trailer was loved by the fans, and “Zinda Banda” (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu) featuring SRK has also dropped to rave reviews, thanks to Anirudh Ravichander’s awesome composition. Altogether, the movie is set to break multiple box-office records. The movie will be released on September 7, 2023.

Dream Girl 2

Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl (2019) was absolutely adored by the audience. While we do not know anything about the story of the sequel, the teaser shows the actor looking gorgeous in a red saree as she speaks to his/her admirers. Clearly, Ayushmann is going to up his game with his cross-gender acting.

Dream Girl 2, like its predecessor, has been directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, who is also the writer. The cast includes Ananya Panday, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz, Manoj Joshi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Seema Pahwa, and Govardhan Asrani. So as you can see, the cast itself is a sign of the fun that’s coming our way. The movie will be released on August 25, 2023.

Animal

Ranbir Kapoor is going all-out raw in his upcoming venture Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga (Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh). The pre-teaser gives a glimpse of the movie’s hardcore and savage action, with Ranbir having no intentions of pulling punches. Vanga also wrote the story. Alongside Ranbir, we have Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. The movie will arrive at theatres on December 1, 2023.

Tiger 3

Tiger 3 will be Salman’s answer to SRK’s Pathaan. Both are a part of Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe, and we can easily expect Pathaan to turn up in the movie. Directed by Maneesh Sharma (Fan, Band Baaja Baaraat), the movie will bring together Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif (as Zoya) for the third time. Emraan Hashmi will be the antagonist. Another must-have for any upcoming Indian movies of the 2023 list, this one will be released on November 10, 2023.

Merry Christmas

Only the poster of the film has been released, and it has already spiked excitement among fans. Starring Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif, it has been directed by Sriram Raghavan (Andhadhun, Badlapur, Johnny Gaddar). It has been written by Anukriti Pandey, who wrote Disney+ Hotstar’s Criminal Justice. Considering Raghavan’s filmography, the film will surely be another thrilling ride filled with twists. The best part is that the plot will revolve around Christmas Eve, or so it seems. The film will be released on December 15, 2023.

Dunki

Shah Rukh Khan’s third 2023 venture will be his long-time-coming project with director Rajkumar Hirani. Dunki will be releasing on December 22, 2023. King Khan’s look, which was released recently by a fan club, shows him in a uniform with a turban which tells us that he might be one of those who helps people take the route. So he will probably assist actress Taapsee Pannu in taking the route.

Hirani’s films have always had a strong message, along with the perfect touch of humour and emotions. This shall be no different either. The story has been written by Kanika Dhillon (Haseen Dillruba, Guilty), Abhijat Joshi (3 Idiots, PK, Sanju), along with Hirani.

King of Kotha

Starring Dulquer Salmaan, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Gokul Suresh, and Aishwarya Lekshmi, the gangster drama King of Kotha has been directed by debutant Abhilash Joshiy. The movie is Dulquer’s dream project, and he looks savage as Kotha Rejendran in the teaser. Its new song, “Kalapakkaara”, is already going up the charts. Let’s wait and see what this mass entertainer has in store for us. The screenplay has been written by Deeno Dennis, son of highly acclaimed scriptwriter Kaloor Dennis. The movie is coming to theatres on August 24, 2023.

Sam Bahadur

Sam Bahadur is based on the life of Sam Manekshaw, former Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army, during the Indo-Pak War of 1971. It has been co-written and directed by Meghna Gulzar, with Vicky Kaushal playing the titular role. Alongside Kaushal, we will also have Sanya Malhotra, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Neeraj Kabi. Meghna Gulzar’s movies never stop taking us aback with their stories that deal with sensitive stories, issues and messages. This one will be no different. The film will release on December 1, 2023.

Ghoomer

Ghoomer, directed by R Balki (Paa, Pad Man, Chup: Revenge of the Artist, Shamitabh), stars Saiyami Kher in the lead role. The posters of the film were shared on social media by Abhishek Bachchan, also in it. In them, we see Saiyami holding a cricket ball in her left hand. Her right hand is missing. So she is a physically handicapped woman who wants to be a bowler. Abhishek will play the role of her coach. The film also stars Shabana Azmi.

From the looks of it, the film will deal with the story of Saiyami’s character’s struggle to become a bowler despite not having a hand. Balki pays special attention to human emotions, which is his special weapon to affect the audience in the intended way. The film will come out on August 18, 2023.
