Red Eye

Imagine Murphy’s chilly blue eyes but, in a psychotic context. Sends shivers down the spine, right? Starring in this film alongside Rachel McAdams, Murphy plays the role of Jackson, a member of a terrorist organisation who forces McAdams’ Lisa to help him kill a top-notch US official. A black and white Cillian Murphy movie! You see what we did there, right? This 2017 film was such an important and wonderful film when it was released but, no one talks about it anymore which is sad. There is a thrilling element to this satire that stars an ensemble cast which includes Patricia Clarkson, Bruno Ganz, Cherry Jones, Emily Mortimer, Kristin Scott Thomas and Timothy Spall alongside Murphy and, we cannot quite put our finger on it.

The film follows Janet hosting a party as she has been newly appointed as a minister. However, darkness creeps in when the secrets of Janet’s husband, Tom threatens to make it to the light of day. Have a good, dark laugh through this film which is now streaming on Tubi.

The Water

A short film by Kevin Drew that stars Murphy alongside David Fox and Leslie Feist. The film unravels within the course of 24 hours with no dialogue whatsoever. Breakfast on Pluto

Although this comedy-drama by Neil Jordan received polarizing reviews on its release, there is no denying that this was one of those early roles by the Oppenheimer actor where we saw him go through a transformative journey to dedicate himself to the character so hard that it would become impossible for the viewers to differentiate the actor from his acting role. In this film, we see Cillian Murphy play the role of a transgender in the search for her lost mother and the love that life has failed to deliver her. The film is based on the 1998 novel by Patrick McCabe of the same name.
