Who is that Mayuri hears the voice of in his ear in Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 3? Can it be the eccentric scientist who holds the power to turn the world on its head? Let’s see what Urahara has to say in this episode!

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 3 Overview

What is there to be said about Bleach that hasn’t been said before? It is one of the most popular anime in the West of Japan of all time and is considered a part of the Big Three, a trio of anime widely recognised as having been a part of popularising the medium of anime. The show is back after a hiatus of nine years, as its first run ended in 2013. The newest season of the show is being developed by Studio Pierrot, the studio behind the original series, as well as other giants such as Naruto and Tokyo Ghoul.

The second part of the final arc of Bleach is directed by Tomohisa Taguchi, who has been involved in the productions of Persona 4, The Animation and Twin Star Exorcists, and the series is based on a manga written by Tite Kubo. This episode is also referred to in original Japanese as Bleach Sennen Kessen-hen Ketsubetsu-tan Episode 3 (Bleach Sennen Kessen hen Ketsubetsu tan Episode 3) and Bleach TYBW Part 2 Episode 3. There is fanservice, and then there is what happened in Bleach this time around. Most shows are content with showing more skin than usual in the name of fanservice, but here, fanservice comes in the form of a character who had been neglected and trodden upon in the manga, getting his moment to shine in the anime adaptation. The most exciting moment from the part 2 trailer happened in this episode, and it was just as exciting as you might have expected. Shinji Hirako got to show what he is all about, and he demonstrated exactly why everyone loves him so much.

This also fills me with hope for the future of the show because this moment alone showcases that not only is the anime going to be a faithful adaptation of the manga, but it also aims to fix the missteps that happened in that medium due to one reason or another. I know this doesn’t mean much to most people who are watching the show, but it will in time. If the show follows this trend, everyone will be glad that the decision as made to alter the events from the source material, and the show will be better off for it, just like it was in this episode,

There was a lot of info-dumping in this episode, but all of it made total sense, and it could certainly be seen as something the writer had in store for a while, and he didn’t dream it all up on the spot. The captains needed a break, and the Quincies needed better competition, so this move knocked out two birds with one stone. It also helps that this was delivered by somebody who can be expected to be as cooky and eccentric as possible, Kisuke Urahara. Urahara is awesome, and so is his dynamic with Mayuri, which was displayed very well in this episode.

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 3 was a very cool episode, literally and figuratively. Toshiro wasn’t done defying his tormentors yet and put up one final fight with an assist from Kisuke, and the animation during his fight particularly was spectacular. There was also the matter of Soi Fon and how she almost died in the previous episode, but this episode made her look like the badass she has always been. Ikkaku, Yumichika, and Shuhei were also featured, and they’re always great to see.

The highlight of today’s outing was certainly Shinji, but Kisuke and Toshiro came really close to taking the top spot. This was an episode that will divide opinion a little, where people who are heavily invested in the show’s lore and characters are going to love it, and everyone else isn’t going to rate it highly. I am firmly on the first corner and thought this was this season’s best episode so far. Let’s see how long the show can hold this momentum!

Verdict

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 3 was a lovely episode that featured some great action and character moments and significantly moved the plot forward.
