6 Fresh Romantic Kdrama Pairings We Wish to See Some Day: Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo, Han So-hee and Lee Do-hyun and More

We already have a ton of onscreen loving couples out there, but that hasn’t stopped us from brewing up our own dream casting choices of fresh Romantic Kdrama Pairings who we wish would work together. Whether their fates are entangled in a rom-com, or a gory zombies-downing slasher, we would just be happy to see these beautiful people together, of course with the conditions of their happy ending signed under the contract as well.

Some of these dreamed up Romantic Kdrama couples have actually come close to working together on a full-fledged series. Alas, scheduling issues or other personal interests have led them astray and brought our ambitious crossovers crashing to the ground. In there cases, they’re even rumoured to be joining forces in the future, but that thought only crossed my mind quite late, so I will let my imagination run wild for the time being. Hopefully, me writing these up will also help manifest them. Keeping fingers crossed!

Some Fresh Romantic Kdrama Pairings Our Dreams are Holding On to

1. Han So-hee and Lee Do-hyun

I won’t complain about them stepping out in these avatars either.

The Nevertheless actress is everywhere, and we love it! But what we’d love even more is seeing her with The Good Bad Mother star Lee Do-hyun. Both of them have basically aced every genre they’ve led – thriller, drama, romance and more. You put this combination in the midst of any story, and it’s a sure shot to success for the show creators, and of course their fans.

2. Kwon Nara and Park Bo-gum

Itaewon Class finale flashbacks are still alive in my memory.

Remember Park Bo-gum’s surprise cameo at the end of the 2020 K-drama Itaewon Class? I still haven’t stopped contemplating how his entry into the storyline would’ve ultimately linked up with that of Nara’s character. While she suffered the harsh end of the second lead syndrome as Kim Da-mi and Park Seo-joon resolved their romantic arc, the drama also suggested at a twist of fate at the very end of the season by pulling Bo-gum in as the unbelievably handsome chef at Soo-ah’s (Nara) new restaurant. To this day, I haven’t stopped wishing for a Season 2 with the two of them sporting the roles of the leading pair.

3. Kim Se-jeong and Lee Jae-wook

I have intense urge to see them both lead an action-packed drama series for some reason. Yes, Se-jeong’s already featured in The Uncanny Counter, but that only stands as proof that her range is touching the sky, and has no limits at all. Confining her talents to the same old romantic tracks will just let her abilities go to waste. Only if her goofy side from Business Proposal and her kickass persona from The Uncanny Counter were to come together, that would just be a dream come true!

Moreover, with Lee Jae-wook by her side, their team would be unstoppable. Despite his coarse character design in Extraordinary You, his portrayal of Baek Kyung had reeled out a strong second lead syndrome among the audience back then. Yet again, testifying that the man is capable of making the world fall for him regardless of who he may be portraying.

4. Kim Ji-eun and Rowoon

Seeing both of them together on my screen would just combust my heart with softness. It would be too much beauty to take in at the same time and rooting for this alliance. Her endearing silliness in One Dollar Lawyer totally won me over. Now combine that with Rowan’s effortless swoon-worthy finesse, and you have me going gaga over this combo.

5. Park Eun-bin and Im Si-wan

I know that both of them have been roped in to play partners in a Korean movie already, but just the thought of them appearing together for only a mere number of hours is not enough for me. Eun-bin is one of the most artistic actors out there in the current K-entertainment scene. She can take the script handed out to her to greater unimagined heights, regardless of the K-drama’s thematic fuel making it out to be a mystery, romance, common drama storyline or more.

Im Si-wan, whom I consider to be rather one of the more underrated actors out there, has the strength to pull out a similar winning performance. Even the idea of putting both these indomitable powers together is leaving me with goosebumps!

6. Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo

Now THIS. This would be a Kdrama pairing for the ages. And we almost had them playing opposite to each other in one of the greatest Kdramas ever made – Descendants of the Sun – but Gong Yoo turned down the opportunity due to his personal interests of not wanting to star in dramas back then. When you put one legendary star with another, things can only blast forth towards the sky. No matter how many times I try to put two and two together to conjure up the image of how fascinating this duo would be onscreen, I return empty-handed, because I know that the final output would only be a thousand times better than what I have in mind.
