Kpop Debuts of July 2023 That You Need to Check Out Now: BTS’ Jungkook Solo, TWICE MISAMO, ZEROBASEONE and Others

Never-ending comebacks are bound to sweep you up on the Hallyu wave, which also made room for many Kpop debuts of July 2023. Some of these have actually been some of most waited for projects by the fans. If the previous month had NCT’s leader going SHALALA, then this month has the MONSTA X leader bringing back the heat after his military stint. BTS also had a month with bright moments leading up to their debut anniversary on June 26, and now carrying the baton ahead, the ‘maknae’ of the group is lighting the world’s stage on fire with his bombastic solo debut.

Many such hits that have already premiered, along with the others yet to arrive this month have been listed below. If you enjoy K-pop content and all the promotions that come and go around any artist’s comeback era, then you need to keep an eye out for these names that have made this month a memorable one and kept us bopping along the way.

CRAVITY Japanese Debut

Date: July 5, 2023

Originally released as the titular song of their fifth Korean min-Album tiled Master: Piece, Groovy now has its Japanese rendition as well. While the Korean track was released in March, in July 2023, the Starship Entertainment 4th Gen boy group made their anticipated Japanese debut with the single album, in which the title track was accompanied by another song, I Can’t Fight the Feeling.

KISS OF LIFE

Date: July 5, 2023

S2 Entertainment’s very own rookie girl group came out with its first self-titled mini album led by songs Shhh and Bye My Neverland, in addition to the other solo tracks of the members as well. The group’s lineup includes the following four members – Julie, Natty, Belle and Haneul.

ZEROBASEONE

Date: July 10, 2023

Formed on the sets of this year’s previously aired survival reality competition Boys Planet, ZEROBASEONE’s Kim Ji-woong, Zhang Hao, Sung Han-bin, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae, Ricky, Kim Gyu-vin, Park Gun-wook and Han Yu-jin debuted under the agency WakeOne. Their debut extended play, Youth in the Shade‘s lead single – In Bloom – was a synth-pop track that paid homage to A-ha’s Take On Me. Other songs on the album were Back to Zerobase, New Kidz on the Block, And I, Our Season and the Zhang Hao solo song Always.

2NE1’s Sandara Park or Dara’s Solo

Date: July 12

Mostly known by her stage name Dara, the former 2NE1 member finally made her official solo debut this month. She’s previously participated in collaborative singles with other artists and also released some singles during her stint under the company Star Music. However, in 2023 she’s revised her artistic identity and come out with her first eponymously titled EP while working with Abyss Company. Her album’s title track FESTIVAL heavily samples Uhm Jung-hwa’s song of the same name released in 1999. It also includes four more tracks – Play, Dara Dara, T Map and Happy Ending.

BTS Jungkook Solo

Date: July 14, 2023

Probably one of the most exciting and highly awaited releases was the Jungkook solo debut. Prior to the official premier solo single Seven, the BTS maknae’s promotions as a soloist also entailed the release of his older SoundCloud singles (My You and Still With You) on Spotify. His playfully eccentric and entertaining music video stars the much-appreciated South Korean actress Han So-hee, previously spotted in Nevertheless, My Name and will also soon be starring alongside Park Seo-joon in the Netflix thriller series Gyeongseong Creature.

GIDLE English Debut

Date: July 14, 2023

In partnership with 88rising, the CUBE Entertainment 4th Gen girl group members Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi and Shuhua have finally ventured onto a new path. Marking the beginning of a new era for them, this also beckons the arrival of their upcoming first full English EP tilted HEAT in September this year. The extraterrestrial-themed music video released on the same day as their overall 60th music show victory on Music Bank for their latest Korean comeback title track Queencard.

HORI7ON

Date: July 24, 2023

The forthcoming debut of the South Korea-based Filipino boy group formed by MLD Entertainment and ABS-CBN will allow seven dreams to take flight. Vinci Malizon, Kim Ng, Kyler Chua, Reyster Yton, Winston Pineda, Jeromy Batac, and Marcus Cabais will debut as a septet following their success on the Kapamilya Channel survival reality show, Dream Maker. So far they’ve already put out three pre-release singles – Dash, Salamat and Lovey Dovey. Their first studio album is titled Friend-Ship, which will be led by the single Six7een. Songs featured on the album also introduce their collaborations with the groups like TFN, Lapillus and New:ID, including their previously performed hits on Dream Maker.

MONSTA X First Subunit Shownu X Hyungwon

Date: July 25, 2023

Debuting as the first official subunit of the group, commonly known as the “XXL line” of MONSTA X among the fans, Shownu and Hyungwon, the leading dancers of the Starship Entertainment music act are kickstarting a new venture for the sextet. Their upcoming first mini album The Unseen will again witness Hyungwon’s talents as a lyricist and composer on two songs on its tracklist. Read more about it here.

TWICE MISAMO

Date: July 26, 2023

The first subunit of the JYP Entertainment 3rd Gen girl group TWICE comprises of three members – Sana, Mina and Momo. Set to make their debut in Japan this month, they’ll be putting out their first mini album Masterpiece on the date mentioned above. They’ve already released two pre-release singles from the album, namely, Marshmallow and Do Not Touch. Other songs listed on the album are Behind the Curtain, Funny Valentine, It’s Not Easy For You, Rewind You and Bouquet.
