College Romance Season 4 Review: Fails to Capture the Essence of Friendship and Young Love

College Romance Season 4 Review: Created by The Viral Fever (TVF), Sony LIV’s series stars Gagan Arora as Bagga, Apoorva Arora as Naira, Keshav Sadhna as Karan, Shreya Mehta as Deepika, Nupur Nagpal as Dhatrapriya, aka DP, Eklavey Kashyap as Harry, Jahvni Rawat as Raavi, and others. Ashutosh Chaturvedi and Pankaj Mavchi have written and directed the College drama series. There are a total of five episodes of approximately 30 minutes each.

College Romance Season 4 Review Contains No Spoilers

It’s the final year, and our seniors Bagga, Naira, Naira, and DP have much to figure out. The last year of college also means worrying about the future. Does College Romance 4 keep up with its title and the show’s main theme? Sadly, no.

The fourth season offers hardly anything that differentiates it from the previous ones. The breakups and patch-ups have no intensity or impact. Random things keep happening because that’s what the script says. Having a new school principal has no prominent effect on the narrative or the student’s life. Season 3 was average; the new one is pure blandness and boredom.

No character has any good development, considering they will soon go away from the fun college life to the real world. Bagga, a senior, acts more childish than any school kid. DP has no personality; she’s still just Karan’s girlfriend. Naira made sense only in the first episode. Deepika is loud, angry, and judgmental for no reason. To depict a character constantly annoyed by other people’s boyfriends or romantic problems is outdated. In 2023, how is being stone-cold and rude considered a sexy quality?

Raavi and Harry are only in the show to crush on Deepika. The show’s name is College Romance, but there’s neither any fun we all have in college nor any romance between the characters. The college seems just like a prop, as the series never feels like it is about college students. In one episode, all the characters take a trip together where they let out their real emotions. All friendships and relationships have those days when two people are not on the same page. It made sense to have that discussion on the show.

Sadly, the conviction was missing in the execution and performances. The weak story and acting take away the joy of watching a show that is supposed to make one nostalgic and cheerful. The dialogue is also bad, and I couldn’t take it anymore when Deepika said something ridiculous when she wanted a hug from a particular character.

College Romance Season 4 Review: Final Thoughts

Overall, the last season of College Romance doesn’t excite you in any way. It fails to capture the true essence of friendship and the young love of college days. The performances and story aren’t up to the mark. The series does nothing to make one reminisce about their college days because the relatable factor is completely missing.

The series is now streaming on SonyLIV.
