The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Part 1 Plot Summary

We start off the season by seeing Mickey be incredibly famous now that his client (who was incredibly guilty) has died. He started his law practice with a dramatic entrance. If last season he took over Jerry Vincent trying his level best to keep the place running, this time he just has to snap his fingers, and things become well again. All those magazine photoshoots and interviews are definitely helping the business boom. It is helping so much that Lorna has to keep people on hold so that she can dig through the bottom of these cases.

After all the work he had done with Trevor Elliot, it seemed that he had proven himself to be a formidable lawyer, which is why he was able to get Jesus Menendez off the hook. However, the DA still has sharks swimming around them, threatening to open the case just to stick it to the guy. Meanwhile, Mickey has another case he needs to look at. This guy is a bankruptcy consultant, and he accidentally broke into a house and indecently exposed himself. Fortunately, Mickey got him out of it without a single charge.

It was overall a brilliant day, except this guy turned out to be the same guy who actually killed the woman Jesus Menendez was accused of killing. The full circle moment is so intense that Mickey has no idea what to do. He eventually goes to his dad’s friend, orchestrates a big moment and sends him to jail. Fortunately, this guy is no longer his client, so things end well. After this, he goes out to dinner with Maggie, and she is already angry about this whole fame deal. After getting the best compliments from the chef with free food, she becomes agitated enough to leave.

He sits back and finishes all the food. This is when Lisa Trammell comes in. She is the head chef at the place, and right now, she has been making sure the restaurant doesn’t get gentrified like the rest of the neighbourhood she works in. He sympathises with her issue but is unable to help her. The main guy heading this whole issue has filed a temporary restraining order against her, and now she has to stay 300 feet away from his office. He gives her as much advice as he can about this before they both sleep together.

After this, she has been coming over to the office, and the two of them start creating their defence against this TRO. However, even before anything can progress with this, she is arrested for murdering the guy. Things have escalated way too quickly. The lawyer from the prosecution has been Mickey’sme nemesis of Mickey’s, and for her, this is the chance to prove herself better than his tactics. Get some press in her favour. The case starts out strong on both ends.

They both make compelling arguments, but when Attorney Freeman brings up an unprompted exhibit, the garden gloves, the defence falls apart completely. Mickey is mad that he was blindsided by this. He speaks to Lisa about all this and tries his best to convince her that she should make everything clear to him in the beginning itself. She reassures him that she has told him everything and mostly that she hasn’t killed him. However, he is still sceptical and wants everything out of the news, but people are ready to jump in on this story.

He stops Henry, a podcast producer, multiple times from recording anything from Lisa, and he stays true to his word, but Mickey doesn’t want him releasing anything, including any past interviews. However, the producer took this with a grain of salt and continued to do whatever he wanted. At this point, Mickey is fuming, and he is looking for the contract which gives him the right to negotiate Lisa’s life rights, and he can’t find it. He goes to the parking garage to look for it, and that’s when it happens.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Part 1 Ending Explained

People come to the same parking garage where Jerry Vincent got murdered and started brutally beating up Mickey. He has no idea what is happening, why they are beating him up and who they were hired by. It is all a blur, and in the end, there are too many people that don’t like him, so it is impossible to know who didn’t and who hired them. However, they didn’t beat him to death or leave him there in a state that would lead to death.

It is possible that someone did it to intimidate him or take something and do it well enough that he wouldn’t even know what they took. Perhaps the guy Russell, in the Jesus Menendez case, decided to torpedo all of Mickey’s efforts at solving the next high-profile case and get some goons to beat him up. Perhaps Cisco’s past has been catching up, and someone decided to hold Mickey accountable for it. We will be able to find out more in the next part of the series.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Part 1 is currently streaming on Netflix. Part 2 arrives on the platform on August 3, 2023.
