10 Upcoming Bollywood Movies That Are Expected to Take the Box Office by Storm in 2023

With the year having reached its mid-point, we bring you a list of the Upcoming Bollywood movies 2023 that are expected to be super-hits. I’m using the word “super-hit” because it’s the most colloquial term in Hindi films lingo. There’s a lot in store and it finally seems that Bollywood is steadily getting up on its feet after the COVID downfall.

The movies mentioned in the list are ranked based on the release date. What’s exciting is that each of these films is of a different kind. There is no similarity between any of them at all. Naturally, there’s a lot to expect and the countdown is merely 6 months. So, here is a list that will help you keep yourself in check about your favourite Bollywood releases.

10 Upcoming Bollywood Movies List

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani

There are many who have taken for granted that Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani will be a banger. One just cannot deny the euphoria Karan Johar has the ability to create on the big screen. However, since the trailer dropped, people have had divided opinions. I too have doubts. But even with lingering doubts, deep down we can admit that we want the movie to do well. It’s the nostalgia speaking. Moreover, the star cast, the larger-than-life sets, and the songs all look (and sound) promising. The movie releases on July 28. Fingers Crossed.

Gadar 2

After 21 years, Tara Singh is returning to the big screen and we couldn’t be happier. It is Anil Sharma again who is helming the project. Releasing on August 11, Gadar 2 will explore the events of the Crush India Movement of 1971 that originated in Lahore, Pakistan, and then spread all across the country. Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001) showed the Partition of India. So it seems that this one will have Tara and Sakeena living in Lahore when the movement begins after which they will be separated. Tara will be looking for his wife and the whole endeavor is what the film will delve into. Personally, I cannot wait to see Sunny Deol uproot another handpump. Can you?

OMG 2

2012’s Oh My God! was a critical and commercial hit. Akshay Kumar played Lord Krishna in it but in OMG 2, he will be playing Lord Shiva as evident from the poster. But this time, he will be facing Pankaj Tripathi as his atheist (probably). Needless to say, we have been undergoing an Akshay-Kumar fatigue but the reason why I am hopeful about this film is due to the message it will carry. Also, it will be nice to see and hear the conversation between Akshay and Pankaj, both of whom are experts at dialogue deliveries (let’s not go into the details though I would like to remind you of Gangs of Wasseypur and Phir Hera Pheri). The film will arrive on August 11 this year.

Jawan

Shah Rukh Khan will be going pan-India with his upcoming action movie. Not that he isn’t already a pan-India superstar but this is his first collaboration with a South-Indian director, Atlee (Mersal, Bigil, Theri). SRK’s first film of 2023, Pathaan, became the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time and this movie will be King Khan’s second action flick of the year. It won’t be wrong to say that it is the most anticipated among all the Upcoming Bollywood Movies 2023, especially considering Atlee’s filmography and what King Khan pulled off in Pathaan. Jawaan will hit the theatres on September 7 this year.

Tiger 3

After the disaster that was Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Salman Khan needs a proper return to the big screen. Thankfully he has Tiger 3 in his schedule this year. The last two Tiger films were very successful and with the news that Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan will be having a cameo in the sequel as part of the Yash Raj Spy Universe, the bar of expectations is very high. The camaraderie whose glimpse we already got in Pathaan was unprecedented. So naturally, it is bound to be a huge hit. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, we will see Tiger again on November 10.

Emergency

One of the most controversial actresses in the industry, Kangana Ranaut will take on the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and how she handled the period of Emergency that she declared in the country, continuing from 1975 to 1977. The first look of the film showed Kangana as Indira Gandhi, and she is spot on, both in terms of looks and expressions. This itself has made the film one of 2023’s most highly anticipated ones. Emergency will release on November 24. Kangana is the director of the film as well.

Animal

Ranbir Kapoor’s last outing was a commercial success. Some of you may not remember it anymore but it was Brahmastra. In Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming Animal, Ranbir will play an avatar that he hasn’t explored in his career yet. But that doesn’t mean he cannot pull it off, right? He is an actor of high caliber and given the pre-teaser, it seems that he will be going no-holds-barred. Another box-office banger to be sure. The film releases on December 1.

Fukrey 3

Mrigdeep Singh Lamba is returning with Fukrey 3 featuring Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, and Manjot Singh in their respective roles along with Richa Chadha. The last two movies were fun-filled rides for us with the way they connected. The situations and the humor went hand in hand. And since Lamba is back, this one has to be in the highly anticipated Upcoming Bollywood Movies 2023 list. The film arrives on December 1.

Sam Bahadur

Meghna Gulzar returns to the director’s chair after 2020’s Chhapaak. Sam Bahadur is a biopic on Sam Manekshaw, one of India’s most decorated military officers and the Chief of the Army Staff during 1971’s during the Indo-Pakistani War. Vicky Kaushal will play the role of the iconic leader. Considering Gulzar’s efficient writing and directing skills along with Vicky’s acting prowess, the biopic definitely falls in any highly anticipated Upcoming Bollywood Movies 2023 list. The film releases on December 1.

Dunki

Shah Rukh Khan’s third film this year is his long-time-coming collaboration with the highly-acclaimed director Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki. It will deal with an illegal route (the Donkey Flight’) used by Indians to migrate to Canada and the US. Humor will surely play a central role in the film and SRK will be the tool to convey it. For those of you who don’t know, Hirani first offered the role of Munna Bhai to Shah Rukh but he passed it on. Now that they are finally coming together, there is no doubt that the film will set another bar of excellence for Indian movies. The film arrives on December 22.
