Dunst, who plays the central character of Justine in the film- a depressed bride, is seen naked multiple times, be it lying on mossy rocks or having sex with another actor on screen. Dunst claims to be ‘Internet Naked’ after this project but, the beauty of the film is truly way greater than being exploited for nakedness on the web. In fact, Dunst won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival that year for her this role.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson in Fifty Shades Trilogy

Even with the use of modesty socks on Dornan and body patches on Johnson, no one can deny that the amount of nakedness in the Fifty Shades film trilogy is good enough to call it hardcore erotica. Especially, the use of sex toys and the BDSM plot that lies in the centre of the film makes it a film that is dominated by sex and nudity. One of the best French films ever, Blue Is the Warmest Colour is a film you will always find on the list when it concerns a romantic drama, LGBTQ+ or otherwise. The film has received a lot of accolades and houses a beautiful love story at its heart and explores teenage sexuality like no other. However, it has its own reputation for being a film that was difficult to work on, especially by the leads. Abdellatif Kechiche made a lot of uncomfortable demands which included graphic, full-frontal nudity and making the actors feel like prostitutes (as reported by the actors later in various interviews).

Kate Winslet is one actor who has not shied away from showing herself and embracing her nakedness with grace on screen. In total, there are nine movies where Winslet has bared it all. Christian Bale in American Psycho

If someone can use nudity as a weapon to disorient the audience, then it better be Christian Bale. The 2000 Mary Harron directorial portrayed Bale’s Patrick Bateman as a psychopath and rightly so. With Bale’s being a narcissist of sorts who is obsessed with his body, we see a lot of nudity on screen. The major blow, however, comes when we see Bale embracing nakedness during a sex scene with a prostitute for ego-boost purposes that ends with him killing her. Insane, right? Salma Hayek in Frida

Hayek’s portrayal of genius painter Frida Kahlo in the 2002 film is remarkable. The film has won many awards, including bagging two Academy awards. Hayek’s devotion to portraying the legend reaches you through the screen, even during the tough scenes that demanded her to be naked, such as the hardcore lesbian sex scene. But, what Hayek experienced on set was very terrorizing, so much so that she actually had a nervous breakdown while shooting the nude scenes along with Harvey Weinstein making inappropriate advances towards her during the filming of the movie. Monica Bellucci in Irreversible

Irreversible is Gasper Noe’s timeless rape revenge drama and, it is only natural for it to be designed in a way that nudity and sex take the front seat. It was the Italian bombshell Bellucci who took up this bold role where we see her going through a really bone-chilling set of events, including a rape scene that is the longest one in cinematic history- nine minutes to be exact!

Michael Fassbender in Shame

The 2011 film is an erotic drama that revolves around a sex addict played by Fassbender. So, it was only appropriate that the actor went naked on screen. He did so, in the most contemplative scenes that elevated the film on so many levels. Fassbender did full frontal nudity and, given how brilliant the film is, we will say it was worth it all.

Short Cuts really did turn Moore’s life upside down as the actor discovered how powerful being naked on screen can be and, she has not stepped back since. There are a number of films where we see Moore utilize this power and make sure of the storytelling. Her adulterous performances have made her a favourite figure in cinema.

Nicole Kidman in Eyes Wide Shut

The 1926 novella Traumnovelle on which this film is based on, is a piece of literature that is brave and bold when it comes to talking about sexual fantasies. So clearly, Kubrick’s adaptation of the same for the screen is no different. Kidman had an amazing rapport with the director and final say in the nude scenes, making the process safe and, for us sexual enough to understand the story on a deeper level.
