Hot Teen Romance Movies on Netflix

The Kissing Booth Series

Now a trilogy of movies starring Joey King, Jacob Elordi, Joel Courtney and others, this budding romance film initially follows King’s character Elle fulfilling her bad boy dreams with the high school senior jock Noah. However, these desires aren’t easy to achieve especially when it jeopardises her lifelong friendship with her best friend Lee, who also happens to be Noah’s younger brother. While one of the rules in their friendship rule book forbids them to hook up with either of their family members, what seems like a relationship fulled by latent enmity eventually turns around into a steamy escapade. And it all begins with a kiss at The Kissing Booth set up for charity at their school.

Through My Window (A través de mi ventana)

Teen romance flicks somehow always kick off with stock tropes, and this Spanish Netflix romance movie based on the novel of the same name by Ariana Godoy features the same ‘falling for the hot neighbour’ story. Raquel’s longtime fantasy and crush on the next-door boy takes a new turn when her feelings are reciprocated by him too.

The two embark on a push-pull relationship journey that revolves around both of them seducing each other and leaving the other hanging for more. Soon a star-crossed path for the young lovers also gets pulled into the plot, and well, you’ve probably already seen what follows next because this is just about how unique it can get, but at least you’ve got another guilty pleasure title to add to your list.

The Girl Next Door

This early 2000s raunchy rom-com centres around the determined high school senior Matthew Kidman (Emile Hirsch), who’s everyone expecting to join an ivy and lead the class as the valedictorian at the end of the term. However, what perturbs the high schooler most is that he’s barely made any memories at his school that are worth remembering. Soon his farfetched latent fantasy to walk among the popular ranks of the school flips over when a young woman moves in next door.

Often taunted by his friends for his lack of initiating any risky acts, he finally believes that he’s found the one for him upon meeting Danielle, who later turns out to be a former adult film actress, and he, too, gets sucked into that world, but with his eyes locked on Danielle’s love and well being at all times.

Alex Strangelove

Like many romantic comedy plots, here too, the straight A high school president protagonist aims to lose his virginity to his girl friend, but love isn’t always as straightforward as some perceive it to be. Complications cloud over him when he’s swept off his feet by a suave gay boy who ends up turning on a storm in his mind, as confusions about his sexual identity take over. Although this coming of age name is rather about the boy opening himself up to a well-rounded discussion around exploring his sexuality while also indulging in the intimate act, it’s rather toned down example of hot teen romances because its more driven by its comedy instead.

The Last Summer

KJ Apa and Maia Mitchell star opposite each other in this 2019 Netflix romance. Once again situated in the high school setting, the teenagers in question are about to cross over to adulthood, but before they finally bid farewell to their school, they must tussle with friendships and love in the air during their Last Summer before college. Again, the movie isn’t as explicit as other names on this list, but it’ll do its work in arousing all kinds of lovey-dovey feelings when you watch it.

Royalteen

Both Karl Johan and Lena have a lot to balance on their shoulders as Johan has a whole nation to look after and lead, Lena has her own trying situation to deal with lies. Royalteen tries to juggle with a lot of issues and grave topics, but it also offers a mild case of steamy romance as these teens tussle with high school level troubles related to never-ending romances and some serious deals on the side.

After Series

The After movies are notoriously infamous for their premise and being a Wattpad adaptation, a platform often used as the final resort by many writer to indulge in dark fantasises and whatnot. The Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin starrer series thrusts a lot of focus and pressure on ‘firsts’, as one of those desires to actualise a ‘first’ leads Tessa in her freshman year of college to cut ties with her innocence and fall for the mysterious bad boy of the college. Despite the portrayal of abusive and far from health relationships, the film took off commercially, making the audiences’ guilty pleasures clearer than ever.

Oh Ramona

The 2019 Romanian coming of age movie which is described as “a film about the new generation of teenagers” by its director Cristina Jacob. As Andrei is one the precipice of adulthood, he presents his teenage narrative in a self deprecating tone as he finds himself being compelled to choose between two girl he’s in love with. In this context, Ramona is the hottest girl in school who’s on about hooking up with him, and Anemona is the other girl he’s torn about to pick. The trailer of the film makes it evident leaving no need to explain whatsoever that it’s obviously not love on his mind that is making things hard for him.
