Cannes 2023 is one of the most prestigious film festivals, coming under the ‘Big Five’ film festivals, the ones people wait in anticipation for. In order to share what this time’s event is going to look like, we have decided to compile everything we know so far about the 76th Cannes Film Festival.
Where Will Cannes 2023 Take Place?
The festival is generally held at the Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes, also known as the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in the French Riviera. Like every time, this time too, there will be a red carpet and strict rules regarding the dress code for the festivals. Male-identifying actors are expected to wear a tuxedo, a dress shirt and a bow tie, the latter of which is an essential part of the screening process. Meanwhile, the female-identifying actors are expected to wear evening or cocktail dresses, shirts, trousers or any other formal attire. Recognised National dresses, like a Scottish Kilt, are also allowed.
Who is on the Main Jury at Cannes 2023?
This time the Cannes Festival 2023 jury consists of Ruben Östlund, Swedish director and screenwriter, as the Jury President; Paul Dano, American actor and director; Julia Ducournau, French director and screenwriter; Brie Larson, American actress and director; Denis Ménochet, French actor, Rungano Nyoni, Zambian-Welsh screenwriter and director; Atiq Rahimi, Afghan director and writer; Damián Szifrón, Argentinian director and screenwriter and Maryam Touzani, Moroccan director and actress as the fellow jurors.
Which Films Will be Competing for the Palme d’Or at Cannes 2023?
Some of the popular films premiering at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in competition for the Palme d’Or include Asteroid City by Wes Anderson, La Chimera by Alice Rohrwacher, and The Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer. However, here are some of the other films that will be competing for the same, including Banel & Adama by Ramata-Toulaye Sy, Kaibutsu by Hirokazu Kore-eda, Les Filles d’Olfa by Kouther Ben Hania, Black Files by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, Fallen Leaves by Aki Kaurismäki and many others.
Renowned actor Michael Douglas will also receive an honorary Palme d’Or for his continuous and acclaimed work in the industry.
Which Films Will Be Out of Competition at Cannes 2023?
Opening with Johnny Depp’s film Jeanne du Barry by Maïwenn, the list includes L’Abbé Pierre – Une Vie de Combats by Frédéric Tellier, Cobweb by Kim Jee-woon, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny by James Mangold, Killers of the Flower Moon by Martin Scorsese, ending with Elemental by Peter Sohn. This time series, like The Idol, will also be screened at the festival. Additionally, the midnight screenings include films like Acide by Just Phillippot, Hypnotic by Robert Rodriguez, Kennedy by Anurag Kashyap, Omar La Fraise by Elias Belkeddar and Project Silence by Kim Tae-gon.

Who is on the Cannes 2023 Guest List?
For all the films being screened this year, the guest line-up is looking extremely full. So apart from all the directors coming to screen their films, there will be several A-list celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Alicia Vikander, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie, Edward Norton, Maya Hawke and many more. Indian celebrities like Anushka Sharma, Manushi Chillar, Priyanka Chopra, Dolly Singh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. BLACKPINK’s Jennie will also be attending the event for her upcoming HBO Max series The Idol.
When is the Cannes 2023 Film Festival Taking Place?
