The Muppets Mayhem Review: Lilly Singh and Her Last Chance of Revival

With hundreds of record labels opening up around the world, a talented Nora makes less to no money at Wax Records where she has been working for six years as the CEO’s assistant. Dreaming of opening her own label in the future, Nora tries her best to revive the current dying company but the CEO, Penny is ready to sell it off. Nora wants to make somehow things work out so that the she who is currently leeching off of her younger sister can one day finally succeed.

While shredding all the contracts of the record label, she comes across the band The Electric Mayhem and realises that the famous band owes the label an album as they’ve loaned out 400 thousand dollars. Nora takes this chance and visits the band and ropes them in. But little does she know that the Freebirds are always in for parties and road trips, and so Nora has to either push hard or back down.

Now that we got to know the tiny picture, how did things go for Nora? Well, in a frantic yet beautiful way. The story writers have done a brilliant job of blending humour and immense moral messages to take back home. Throughout the journey of producing one damn album, so many secrets, fights and hardships come forth. But still, The Electric Mayhem find its way back, and this connection helps Nora to grow as the person she is supposed to be. Nora is a sweetheart, no lie in that, but her constant fight to make hay ends up in hasty decisions that eventually flop.

With the suggestions of Moog, JJ and Hannah (Nora’s sister), Nora understands that rather than rushing things, she just needs to try living like the band and realise the value of taking things slow but neat. Soon all of them bond really well, and the success road is hit. Amidst the plot, the best aspect that keeps the series alive is the natural humour flowing from every actor. Muppets are, of course, hilarious always, but the human casts have executed terrifically.

The Cast Nailed It

Lilly Singh is a profound artist who excels in comedy, so it’s no wonder we can expect top-tier humour from her. Nevertheless, her acting is also notable as she expressed her urges, worries, and will to set things straight in a precise and not exaggerated way. So, big kudos. Besides her, fellow casts like Sarah Chaudhary, Anders Holm and Tahj Mowry also play a pivotal role in shaping Nora’s life as well as learning from the band the meaning of life. Likewise, all of them also perfectly played their part!

Thanks to the voice actors of the muppets, the series really outstands. Each character has a speciality, and it is conveyed luminously. Every time an Animal muppet says “Nora” in a drooling manner, one can’t resist laughing. Also, the voice actor of Lips, who is a muppet that mumbles, really took a great effort to make the character seem lively. Be it Janice, Teeth, Floyd or Zoot, not a single one of them felt lesser than the other.

Final Thoughts

If you’re going to think this series is for kids, then you’re surely missing out on good stuff. Blending muppets and humans in a series takes a huge stab, and the crew did it flawlessly. Aside from this, the crazy good humour, the music, the vibe, the cinematography, the locations—everything adds plus one to the entire series.
