-Succession Season 4 Episode 7 Recap Does Contain Spoilers-

The episode starts with a brief patch-up scene between Tom and Shiv, trying to work things out after their mutual fallout in the previous episode. Although the situation is unconvincing and awkward, it does make up for a hopeful discussion between the couple, who were on the edge of being separated.

Next, we get to see the evil side of Greg, who is assigned to eliminate a hefty WayStar Royco workforce. The looming cousin does get some assistance from Tom but takes on the task valiantly and dives deep into his newly acquired sociopathic persona. Moreover, right after this, the episode moves onto the main agenda, which is the tailgate party.

Kendall and Roman prepare their best for the upcoming poll result and decide to strengthen things on the political spectrum. The leading CEOs make an attempt to solidify their ground before Lukas Matsson slips in and also tries to shake things around. Their basic plan is to overpower his offer and make sure that he is unable to match their growth.

When Shiv gets to know about the recent development, she confides in Lukas Matsson and spills the beans on their plan. She convinces the eccentric tech genius to crash their tailgate party and make his presence felt in the vicinity of notable figures. However, Shiv recedes a step back after learning about Nate’s invitation to the party.

At first, the Roy siblings level up with the important guests and try to establish their intentions for the forthcoming poll result. Meanwhile, Roman tries to counteroffer Connor for his one per cent voting percentage by exchanging it for a luring ambassadorship. Notably, everything works according to the plan until Lukas Matsson arrives with his Swedish squad.

As predicted, things do get a little ugly between the grand buyer and seller. Kendall and Roman uncover all the possible dirt about Matsson and discover his hyper-pumped subscriber numbers. Something which not only provides leverage to their plan but also creates a disadvantage for the Swede.

In the end, Shiv and Tom get back to their usual fighting tempo and leave no room for reconciliation. They lash out emotional accusations against each other before creating a permanent blockade on their relationship. On the work front, Kendall and Matsson engage in a verbal dispute and face each other in the most sarcastic manner possible.

Succession Season 4 Episode 7 Review

The episode offers a break from the usual set of events and feels like a relaxed instalment of the series. There are only two major developments this time around, both of which were quite expected. For instance, the relationship metrics between Shiv and Tom are so flawed at this point that there is no hope for a reconciliation. Whereas, Lukas Matsson’s shady deal figures were always going to be a matter of concern, given his highly unpredictable nature.

Roman has already received harsh treatment from Gerri, and rightly so. Therefore, it is quite unfavourable that he’ll succeed beyond his reach and take over the reigning position from Kendall. Moreover, the Rockstar Roy has rekindled some old allegiance with Frank with his new plan to reverse the GoJo deal. Based on the flavourful events of the episode, the next instalment will definitely shake up things for the Roy clan.
