Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 OST: MONSTA X’s Kihyun Brings Hard Rock to the Fantasy K-drama’s First Song

There is a new Korean Drama coming to your nearest screens, and the Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 OST has been announced to create some more buzz about the drama. While the last edition of this drama contained many songs by popular musicians, this time, the roster has been kicked off with MONSTA X’s Kihyun. He will be performing the song titled Full Moon, which will kick off the release of the first episode and officially give fans the visuals and sound from the drama.

Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 will be a sequel to the series Tale of the Nine Tailed. It will feature original cast members Dong Wook-lee, Kim Bum and Kim Yong-ji, along with new cast members like Kim So-yeon, Ryu Kyung-soo, Hwang Hee, Kang Na-Eon, Kim Jung-nan, Kim Na-hyun, Kim Joo Young, Ahn Gil-gang, Kim Soo-jin, Cho Dal-hwan, Ha Do-kwon, and others. It is written by Han Woo-ri and directed by the duo Kang Shin-hyo and Jo Nam-hyung. The production companies Studio Dragon and How Pictures will be collaborating with each other to make the soundtrack.

Since the series is a hardcore fantasy drama with suspense and violence, the creators of the song have decided to take some inspiration from that theme and come up with a hard rock and electronica rhythm, here to bring the base and tenacity to the drama. Since the drama is about being stranded in an era unknown, this song tries to bring that sense of melancholia and the prospect of identity. It also brings in the intensity of changing one’s identity at a time when things around them are all too unfamiliar.

This drama follows Lee Yeon, who has been transported back in time to 1938. This unexpected case takes a wrong turn and sends him to an era he has no idea how to navigate. But he comes across a familiar face in Ryu Hong-Joo, who used to be the guardian spirit of a mountain in the west, but in this era, she is the owner of the best high-end restaurant Myoyeongak in the capital city of Gyeongseong. He doesn’t just meet her. In this era, he also comes across Lee Rang, his younger brother.

However, there have been some hostilities between Cheon Mu-young, Lee Yeon and Ryu Hong-joo. This conflict leads him to start his search back home even more than before. We see that the past version of himself is an embarrassing desperate man who has been waiting for people to get incarnated. Taking that as an indication of his time here, he decides to go his own way. The story will follow his experiences as he tries to make his way back to the era where his loved ones exist.
