Welcome to Eden Season 2 Ending Explained: Are We Really Talking About Aliens?

Welcome to Eden Season 2 Ending Explained: Welcome to Eden season 2 (Bienvenidos a Edén: Temporada 2) is a drama sci-fi series directed by Denis Rovira and Juanma Pachón, created by Joaquín Górriz and Guillermo López Sanchez, written by Joaquín Górriz and stars Amaia Aberasturi, Amaia Salamanca, Nona Sobo, Belinda Peregrín, Berta Castañé, Lola Rodríguez, Sergio Momo, Begoña Vargas, Tomy Aguilera, Guillermo Pfening, Diego Garisa, Lucía Guerrero, Carlos Soroa, Dariam Coco, and Irene Dev.

The series has 8 episodes, each with a runtime of around 45 – 50 minutes.

Welcome to Eden Season 2 Recap

The series focuses on the life of everyone forced to stay on a deserted island by a cult led by Astrid and Erick. With new people joining everyone this season, Zoa and her friends must find a way to rejoin society just so that Astrid’s rather convoluted worldview does not end in them losing everything.

Welcome to Eden Season 2 Ending Explained

In the second season, Astrid and Erick struggle to keep their kidnappees in line while having trouble among themselves.

Astrid, Aliens and Her Father

When it comes to Astrid, we learn that her Father was the one who thought of Eden and that there are aliens out there who are waiting to take them to another world while Earth collapses due to human greed. However, before her father is able to share the coordinates with her, he is murdered, and her son Isaac also nearly ends up in the same position.

Desperate and panicked, Astrid moves forward with her father’s dream, only to realise that he never succeeded in sharing the coordinates with her. Thus, for so many years, she has been struggling to find what her father was talking about.

Now, the people who murdered her father turn out to be one of his rivals who ended his life thanks to business. Som turns out to be the businessman’s daughter whom Astrid was hoping to use against her father for revenge. However, in Welcome to Eden episode 8, it is revealed that Som and Danae are working together for Som’s father and that all of this has been their plan from the very beginning. Furthermore, Danae is aware of Astrid’s experiment, and in the last moment, as she enters a code into the system hidden deep within Astrid’s home, Isaac enters and sees her.

It is not explained what the plan is here, whether they are simply trying to sabotage or use Astrid’s father’s plans for their own gain. Considering the series ends on a cliffhanger, I wouldn’t be surprised whether they took the series in this direction.

Zoa and the Revolution + Gabi

Gabi came to the island in search of her sister and is immediately brainwashed by Astrid as the latter preys on her young impressionable mind and their turbulent home life. Although Gabi insists to her sister that she will not to swayed by Astrid, when she finds out about Gabi’s true identity and tries to go check on the satellite (when she would have been murdered), Gabi warns her not to go since she has started to like Eden and, more so, Astrid as her own.

This results in Astrid and her cohorts catching Zoa and Bel trying to bomb her to death. The revolution is completely rendered useless as it turns out that their friends have slowly started to turn their backs on them. In the last scene, just as the two lovers are killed, Brisa lands on the island to save everyone.

Is Eden Truly a Place in Some Distant Galaxy, or is There Some Deeper Meaning?

From what we gathered in this season, it seems like Astrid believes that there really is a planet in the universe wherein they can create a colony and populate after being saved by the aliens. I am unsure what Som’s father wants with Astrid’s equipment, but we will definitely get to know about it in the next season.

Is Brisa Able to Save Zoa and Everyone on the Island?

Brisa, after trying to get to the bottom of the missing children, finally flies to Eden thanks to one of Astrid’s fallen allies. This story is not fully developed yet, and they are going the previous season’s route of going deep into it in its own season. She is definitely able to stop Zoa’s execution, but whether or not she will be able to save everyone is still unclear.

Is Isaac Truly the Chosen One?

Considering Isaac spent a lot of time with his grandfather and is very interested in astronomy, it wouldn’t be shocking to learn that Isaac has a lot of knowledge about all of this than we made given the impression. His grandfather probably told him some things before he died that will help him to contact the aliens.

Welcome to Eden season 2 is streaming on Netflix.
