The episode starts with Anna arriving at a house located in a polluted San Francisco city. She joins Sylvie and August Bolo’s family as their housekeeper for the night. Sylvie is seen wearing a regal dress, and the party she’s throwing includes loads of dishes however she claims herself not rich in the collapsing world. While Sylvie says that the food is going to cost her a fortune, she guarantees Anna a good tip.

Sylvie then goes to get August to dress up for the party, and that’s when viewers find that they haven’t been in a happy relationship ever since. Thankfully, guests arrive before the couple start an argument.

The guests, Nic (August’s student) and his girlfriend Elodie, check out the food. Moreover, Sylvie follows a no-contact policy and acts on it by staying distant from everyone. Nic and Elodie have an age gap, and it’s apparent that Elodie is an influencer who captures everything with a camera attached to her lens. Nic, however, isn’t a techy person. Then, the party begins, and they all start to discuss while sipping champagne.

When Nic talks about preserving a person’s consciousness digitally and inputting it inside a new body when Earth heals, August announces an investment he made with a company called LifePause 15 years back. This company allows the investors’ mortal bodies to live in digital heaven until becoming mortal is safe; that is when Earth becomes livable. Everyone is taken aback after August’s announcement because they realise that in 2069 (that is next year), August’s body will move to digital heaven.

Is Sylvie Going Along With August?

Sylvie thinks that she is tagging along as well, but it is revealed that August got the ticket via a lottery between the investors, and he didn’t get an extra ticket for her. This causes an argument between the couple who, anyway, wasn’t in love. August opens up about his wish to experience food, air, and such natural things once again, but Sylvie argues that since in the world it’s all gone, they have to choose family and love. Elodie just then brings their child’s name, making Sylvie walk away from the table. Nic runs to check on Sylvie while Elodie sticks with August.

Nic Ruins the Couple’s Change of Mind

Nic and Sylvie are clearly attracted to each other. Since Sylvie follows her no-contact policy, both of them resort to another way of pleasing themselves. On the other side, Elodie tries to make August give up the ticket so that she can get in. She brings in Sylvie’s topic and makes August understand his love for her. August also teaches Elodie how to pass the LifePause test. While she clears the initial tests, Elodie fails during a hologram bear test.

Sylvie comes back to August, and the latter expresses that he didn’t mean to hurt her but he felt she doesn’t like him. Just when August and Sylvie are about to connect, Nic comes in with his pant zipper open, indicating he and Sylvie had sex, making August furious.

Extrapolations Episode 7 Ending

All four of them go to the table and make toasts, respectively. August says that he has no regret going to LifePause because he now knows Sylvie cheated on him. Sylvie toasts that she is happy to see August finally making a plan once in his life. Elodie toasts that she’s breaking up with Nic. Nic then finally says that he loves Sylvie, making the four quarrel. Amidst this, Agnes (Sylvie and August’s child) comes down. Sylvie shuts down Agnes, indicating to the viewers that Agnes is a robot made to support infertile couples. August takes Agnes’ body upstairs, Nic and Elodie leave, and Sylvie pays Anna her tip.

August then comes back down and hugs Sylvie saying that he doesn’t want to leave, and the latter feels the same. August admits that he doesn’t want to leave, and he hugs Sylvie because she doesn’t want him to leave. Anna then cancels Sylvie’s tip, takes August’s coast, and leaves for the LifePause taxi, posing as August. She then leaves for her digital heaven journey.

Final Thoughts

The ending might make people wonder, but truth be told, that’s the only sensible one among all the chaos that happened. Surely Nic is an idiot for breaking Elodie’s heart and trying to steal August’s wife. Even if Sylvie cheated on him, August still loves her, and they reconcile for the sake of Agnes also. Elodie tried to scam August, but she got her lesson and left the place.

Since Anna is the only one without any reason to stick in the present (maybe her family died or she never had anyone), her decision to reach digital heaven with hope for a better life seems understandable. However, the whole episode raises many questions while also making sense. If this is how the world is going to be in the future, damn, it’s scary.
