The Transatlantic cast panel boasts a full-fledged international coming together of actors. It brings the task to fruition with its fight to rescue as many anti-Nazi intellectuals and artists as possible during WWII. Inspired by Julie Orringer’s novel The Flight Portfolio, which was in turn based on real people and events, it premiered on Netflix on April 7, 2023, with seven episodes starring Gillian Jacobs, Cory Michael Smith, Lucas Englander, Corey Stoll, Ralph Amoussou, Deleila Piasko, Amit Rahav and several others.

CORY MICHAEL SMITH
Character: Varian Fry – An American journalist who led the Emergency Rescue Committee in Marseilles (Nazi-occupied France).

Assuming his most prominent role yet as the DC Comics villain Edward Nygma or Riddler, Smith was even nominated for the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Villain.
4. Carol
Smith briefly appears in the well-acclaimed 2015 romantic drama period film starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in the lead roles. His character, Tommy Tucker, proves that Transatlantic isn’t his first period drama rodeo.

Character: Mary Jayne Gold – the American heiress who initially helps fund the ERC, and later volunteers to step up as a spy for the British Intelligence.

Bearing a similar theme, this German Netflix drama series was also created by Anna Winger, the director of Transatlantic. It has Rahav playing one of the main roles of Yakov “Yanky” Shapiro.
COREY STOLL
Character: Graham Patterson – the American Consul General in Marseilles
1. House of Cards
Stoll appears as Congressman Peter Russo in the Netflix political thriller series, and he even received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the show.
2. The Strain (2014)
In 2014, the actor played the role of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather on the FX horror drama TV show.
3. Law and Order: LA
He stepped in as Detective Tomas “TJ”, Jaruszalski, one of the regular cast members in the 2010-2011 TV show.
4. Ant-Man (2015)
In one of his most well-remembered roles in a commercial superhero movie, Stoll took on the opportunity to play Hank Pym’s former protege, Darren Cross, aka Yellowjacket, the antagonist facing off against Paul Rudd’s titular character.
5. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
He again took on the role of Darren Cross, but also that of M.O.D.O.K in the threequel of the Marvel Studios film.
6. Midnight in Paris (2011)
While in the 2023 Netflix series Stoll’s character may have been against saving intellectuals and writers, he, too, played the role of an American novelist and journalist in the 2011 fantasy comedy directed by Woody Allen. Alongside Owen Wilson, Tom Hiddleston, Rachel McAdams and others, Corey donned the avatar of Ernest Hemingway, and was even nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male.

Taking on the prestigious role of astronaut Buzz Aldrin, one of the first two people to land on the moon, alongside Ryan Gosling’s Neil Armstrong, Corey made his presence felt in the 2018 biopic.

Based on the novel by Jonathan Tropper, this 2014 dramedy film directed by Shawn Levy, Stoll played Paul Altman, the oldest of the four siblings alongside co-stars Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Adam Driver, and others.
10. Café Society
In yet another Woody Allen romantic comedy film of 2016, Stoll appears as Ben Dorfman alongside other actors like Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Steve Carell, Blake Lively and others.
LUKE THOMPSON
Character: Hiram ‘Harry’ Bingham
1. Bridgerton (2020)
Thompson rose to fame with his Benedict, the second Bridgerton child in the 2020 Netflix period drama. His presence left such a mark on the audience that despite him having relatively lesser screen time in this German series, all that the viewers were raving about after binge-watching it was Luke’s performance as Bingham.
