What’s Releasing on Netflix in April 2023: Beef, Sweet Tooth Season 2, The Good Bad Mother and More

The leading streaming platform always has a lot to keep us entertained, and the same pattern will be followed by all that’s releasing on Netflix in April 2023. Keeping the bar of expectations high, the upcoming month is set to make way for numerous movies, TV shows, K-dramas, documentaries and comedy specials that will keep on edge.

Here’s a list of titles coming out on Netflix in a few days. It’s time to clear up your calendars, and your watchlists packed. Check out everything that’s dropping on the platform soon. We will update this list in case new announcements head our way. Trailers for some titles aren’t out, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for them to update you all.

APRIL 1

Invisible

An inconspicuous and mysterious personality from the underworld who goes by the name ‘Invisible’ offers an unbelievable deal to a detective hung up on justice. The Japanese drama Series will be streaming on Netflix.

APRIL 2

War Sailor

Based on one of the biggest cinematic hits of last year, Netflix is adapting War Sailor for an upcoming limited series. Following true stories of Norwegian merchant sailors during the World War II, the three-episode event will circle around two sailors who had to face unbearable and inhumane conditions as they struggled to make it out alive from a conflict they never consented to join.

My Name is Mo’nique

Marking her unforeseen return to the stage, Mo’Nique brings you a blockbuster stand-up performance that will see her baring her soul to the audience. Opening up about things about herself, this heartfelt comedy special on Netflix has her spill all details about her old racist teacher, her grandmother’s warning about sex and more.

APRIL 5

Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling

Taking on the title of his previously release music track, “this intimate, all-access documentary” will chronicle the life of the Grammy-nominated singer, charting from his early days as an ambitious teen to his performances going viral. Additionally, the Netflix documentary will also see his vulnerable side as he tries his best to strike a balance between normality and his new-found success and fame.

APRIL 6

Beef

Starring Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, this Netflix series will push for the lives of a failing contractor and an unfulfilled entrepreneur, aka two strangers, to collide in a road rage accident, which eventually incites a heated feud while bringing out the worst in both of them.

IRL: In Real Love

Netflix‘s latest reality TV series will be hosted by Rannvijay Singha and Gauahar Khan, while taking a closer look at four singles navigating through love. As they’re allowed to make the choice between traditional intimate connections and virtually driven romances, will they be able to find a “true connection”? To find their ultimate strongest connection, all four of them will be heading out for dates with online as well as real dates.

APRIL 7

Transatlantic

In the forthcoming German TV show based on a book, two Americans and their allies set out to initiate a rescue mission in 1940 Marseilles in their plan to help artists and all of those refugees escaping from Europe during World War II.

Chupa

For this fantastical movie plot, teenage Alex visits his family in Mexico, where he ends up coming across a chupacabra in his grandfather’s shed. This unlikely coming together pushes Alex and his cousins to save the mythical creature, which puts a new adventure into motion.

Oh Belinda

Picked up as a modern adaptation of the 1986 Turkish fantastic comedy film, Aaahh Belinda, the movie will take a wild turn as a young actress joins the shoot of a new commercial for the shampoo called Belinda. As soon as the shoot kick starts, Dilara finds herself in the shoes of her characters as she gets trapped inside the scripted fiction which becomes her new reality.

The suspenseful Thai film on Netflix revolves around a young talented street-food cook, Aoy, who runs her family’s local stir-fried noodles restaurant. Her life flips around when she joins team ‘HUNGER’ led by Chef Paul, who has his own ways of helping her see the unseen side of the fine-dining industry.

APRIL 12

American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing

Netflix’s true crime documentary directed by Floyd Russ features chilling archive footage, reenactments and interviews that probe into the old tragedy from a new angle, detailing into how two brothers had an entire city shook and terrorised.

APRIL 13

Qorin

Florida Man

Florida Man, a limited series from from creator Donald Todd, who’s brought us series like This Is Us, takes us a on a ride with the struggling ex-cop played by Edgar Ramirez, who’s left with no option but to return to Florida, his home state, once a Philly mobster’s girlfriend goes missing. As he reluctantly traces his steps back to the state, his journey keeps spiralling down into family secrets buried in the deep dark, making it all the more difficult for him to crack the case that seemed quite easy early on.

Obsession

Yet another limited series with Richard Armitage, Charlie Murphy, Indira Varma and others, the TV thriller based on a book peeks into a respected surgeon’s affair with his son’s fiancee. What started out as mere erotic infatuation can soon change their lives forever, probably for the worse.

Queenmaker

Kim Hee-ae, Moon So-ri and others come together for this Korean political TV series that takes shape after a tragic accident. A powerful and eccentric fixer is drawn towards the need to take down her former employer, and bring in a civil rights lawyer instead to step into the shoes of the next mayor.

Post the successful run of two seasons, matchmaker Sima Taparia will be back to guide her international clientele on the arrange marriage scene. The reality series also lets her bring in her insight on how the custom has transformed in the modern age.

The Good Bad Mother (new weekly K-drama premiere)

Starring Lee Do-hyun and Ra Mi-ran in the leads, The Good Bad Mother is one of JTBC’s newly announced K-drama titles that will also be streamed on Netflix. The series takes into account the lives of a woman named Young-soon and her son Kang-ho, a prosecutor. As an unexpected accident strikes them, the latter is engulfed by amnesia, and is taken back to his young days mentally. Meanwhile, the mother-son duo try their best to search their lost happiness by reworking their relationship with each other.

Love After Music (El amor después del amor)

The bittersweet biographical TV series takes an intimate look at Fito Paez’s life and career as he went on to become one of Argentina’s most well-known rock artists.

APRIL 27

Sweet Tooth Season 2

Executive producers Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey bring back the sequel of the hit series based on the DC comic book created by Jeff Lemire. The storyline focussed on Gus and his fellow hybrids being imprisoned by the Last Men as they sought to find a cure for the Sick. The dystopian fantasy eventually leads to The Great Crumble, for which Gus must gather courage to fight off the evil forces.

The Good Bad Mother (new episode)

The Matchmaker

The Matchmaker is a Saudi film that shows an office worker become infatuated with his intern. As he follows her to a desert resort, unprecedented forces unveil a new mystery.

King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch

Ken Goldin and his team take charge at a leading auction house in this reality TV series which deals with rare collectibles.
