The Night Agent Ending Explained

From what we know after watching the Political thriller series, Peter Sutherland (played by Gabriel Basso) finds himself embroiled in a mole and assassination situation after getting an emergency call from Rose, a tech CEO who witnesses the murder of her Uncle and Aunt. Initially, Peter was assigned a job that did not involve action, covering for the residual hours, while sitting inside a remote room (as a result of accusations similar to his father, surrounding his name and involvement in a bomb blast case).

Moreover, the gears in the series change when Peter learns that Rose has some sensitive information, which makes both of them a prime target of some determined hitman, who is part of a larger conspiracy. Throughout the series, Peter makes sure to safeguard himself and Rose, along with several individuals assisting him with the process.

While on their hunch to zero down the villains, Peter and Rose find out that everything is connected with a probe to bring down the President, and also his counterparts as collateral. The gang of wicked schemers includes a bunch of inside agents, Chief of staff Farr, and the fictionalised version of the Vice President of the US, Redfield.

Notably, the duo becomes part of the main action when they help rescue Maddie (the daughter of Redfield), who gets kidnapped in the earlier episodes. Moreover, when secret agent Chelsea (on the good side) and Maddie board the flight to camp David, they are accompanied by Rose and Peter, who also manage to arrive at the scene by hiding under Farr’s car trunk.

The action in the story lits up when Redfield takes her daughter Maddie inside a bunker while leaving the rest of the place prone to the bombing. Notably, Chelsea, Rose and Peter fight their way through a bunch of inside agents to locate the bomb and dismantle it before the blast.

The trio is also successful in saving multiple lives including the President of the United States, before the ultimate explosion. However, as the US figurehead tries to leave in his helicopter, we learn about the final twist- another bomb inside his escape vehicle.

Peter makes use of the only option and takes the President to a gunpoint to convince others to do a complete check. Moreover, when the team does find a bomb inside, they learn about the latter’s true and honest intentions and are able to save the President, again.

In the end, we get to see Peter and the President having a conversation about his father’s tainted record, and his intentions to clear his name. And his final farewell to Rose, with a promise to call her again once the dust settles. Meanwhile, all the culprits of the coupe await their final trial and punishment.
