In season two, Roberts gets personal with a new group of Hollywood’s iconic women, where they reveal new insights into their incredible journeys on their path to purpose. Each episode features profoundly moving and inspirational conversations centred around real-life topics.

The first episode is titled ‘Community’ and the featuring guests include Brooke Shields, Marsai Martin, and Sheryl Lee Ralph. They are in a living room-like setting where we can see some metallic silver in the shape of tree branches, decorated on the ceiling. Sheryl & Brooke start off the conversation by remembering how far they have come from starting their careers at a young age & Marsai joins in as someone who is at the helm of their career.

One of the common topics that come out of their conversation is how long it took them to be comfortable in their own skin & yet it’s a struggle to prove yourself every day. We get to know how Robin Roberts got into the world of broadcasting because of her love for sports but she wasn’t always confident about taking up the role of an anchor in a show like Good morning America.

In the second episode, titled ‘Grace’ we meet new guests – Loni Love, Kelly Osbourne and Chrissy Metz. They are seen in an outdoor setting where Chrissy Metz who is popularly known for her role as Kate Pearson in the TV series This Is Us, shares that she often questions who she really is without the show. The difference in how people treated her before & after the show is quite contrasting and it becomes quite difficult to navigate through it.

The main takeaway is how the three guests feel something similar about the Imposter syndrome, where even though having worked in popular shows, movies or putting out albums – they feel unsure of calling themselves an artist. The conclusive point they reach is to accept your flaws and to learn from the mistakes you made in the past. They believe we never stop learning and growing so it’s better to embrace whatever comes our way.

The third episode is titled ‘Fulfillment’ and features Chloe Kim, Kyla Pratt and Rita Wilson. Wilson starts the conversation how she was talking with Chloe about their diverse background and how both of them are children of immigrants. It further transforms into a balance between work and personal life. Kyla especially emphasises how they should prioritise rest along with their work.

The topic of privacy also comes up when Chloe shares how she threw her first Gold medal in the trash, at the age of 17. It reflects how popularity can be a bane if not dealt with properly. Especially if you get famous at a young age, it can constrict a person’s life over the fear that everyone recognises you & put up everything you do on social media. At which Kyla shares how she dealt with it since she has been in the limelight her whole life.

The last episode is titled ‘Certainty’ and features Dionne Warwick, Hayley Kiyoko and Yaya DaCosta. This episode is like a sermon from Warwick, whose every word sounds like the words of profound wisdom. She emphasises the point of being who you are and nobody else. Contrary to that Hayley Kiyoko shares how she actually struggles with loving herself as she is but has been striving to find joy in little things.

Summing up: Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts Season 2

The four-episode talk show shares the stories of these established women who detail the struggles they have faced on their journeys through fame in a safe and comforting environment, created by the host. We get to see a personal and intimate side to them which we might not know by just looking at them in different roles and personalities.

Despite having different backgrounds, I believe everyone can take away some golden rules that can be applied to their own lives.
