Anyone who avidly watches South Korean content must have come across at least one of actress Park Min-young Kdramas, either being recommended on the streaming platform or some scene getting viral on social media. In simple words, many must be familiar with her and thus on her birthday – which falls on 4th March, we bring you some of the best TV shows that made her the ‘Queen of Rom-Com’.

Starting her career in an advertisement, the talented actress slowly rose in the world of acting by featuring in the hit sitcom High Kick! and many K-pop fans might even recognise her from BigBang’s song Haru Haru, where she played the love interest of G-dragon. Her career breakthrough came with Sungkyunkwan Scandal and since then she has presented herself in a range of roles, over the years.

Love in Contract

With a unique take on romance, Park Min-young plays the role of Choi Sang-eun, who works as a contract marriage master. She helps single people who are in need of a partner for events like couples’ gatherings and reunions. She transforms as per each client’s need and one of those clients is Jung Ji-ho played by Go Kyung-pyo and a new client Kang Hae-jin (played by Kim Jae-young), which turns into a love triangle soon.

The drama has all the elements of romance, humour and emotional stories, which makes us relate to it as well entertain in the best way. It is one of her recent works and excellently showcases her ability to mould herself in any role.

Her Private Life

Playing the role of Sung Deok-mi, the actress won everyone’s heart by embodying a fangirl’s life while also acing at her full-time job as an art gallery curator. Based on the webtoon, Noona Fan Dot Com by Kim Seng-yeon, this romantic comedy will surely make you smile and even feel too relatable at times.

What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim

This is the drama that truly established her position in the rom-com scene. Playing the role of Kim Mi-so, a highly capable secretary to Lee Young-joon (Park Seo-joon), the vice-chairman of a major corporation, she showcased her skills as a versatile actor by interchanging between emotionally traumatic to comedic scenes equally well. Her sassy character not only found a place in Young-joon’s heart but also became a public favourite.

In the drama, a vainglorious executive who seemingly has everything faces devastating news when his adept personal assistant announces that she’s decided to quit.

City Hunter

Based on the Japanese manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Tsukasa Hojo, the drama stars Lee Min-ho, Park Min-young, Lee Joon-hyuk, Kim Sang-joong, Kim Sang-ho, Hwang Sun-hee, Goo Hara, Chun Ho-jin, and Lee Kwang-soo. Although this isn’t exactly a rom-com but the adorable yet thrilling relationship between a secret killer and Blue House bodyguard Kim Na-na is to look out as, as they plan to avenge their enemies together.

Healer

Starring Ji Chang-wook, Park Min-young, and Yoo Ji-tae, in this romance thriller drama she plays the role of Chae Young-shin – a quirky internet news reporter who wants to progress in her profession by becoming a reporter at a big company but suffers from a traumatic past.

In the story, Healer is a night messenger, who does anything the client requests as long as they pay. When Healer meets the girl one of his clients asked him to find, his life starts to change. With equal action and romance scenes, including the legendary blindfold kiss scene, both the actors received immense rave and popularity from the series. Her strong-willed yet vulnerable character proved the mettle that led to more big roles in her way.

Forecasting Love and Weather

Starring Park Min-young, Song Kang, Yoon Park, and Yura, this Netflix Kdrama depicts the unconventional love story of people working in the Korean Meteorological Administration who break, fall and rise up again, and their everyday life together in the office. While Jin Ha-kyung can accurately predict which way the winds will blow, when it comes to her own heart she gets caught in a whirlwind romance with a new joinee.

While the actress has already claimed her throne, the drama also showcases a new side of Song Kang after his turbulent relationship in drama Nevertheless.
