Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway Trailer: Rani Mukerji Enlivens the True Tale of a Mother’s Struggle Against an Entire Nation

ZEE Studios is turning the tide with its upcoming awe-inspiring movie Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, based on true events. Featuring a “mother’s fight against a nation”, the Hindi film stars Rani Mukerji in the lead as the eponymous character who will build out a heart wrenching account that will leave us with endless questions surrounding two nations’ cultural gap, and a government’s corrupt operations that turn a mother’s cries into a deafening noise in the background.

With Mukerji, the story finds its visual representation through actors like Anirban Bhattacharya, Jim Sarbh, Neena Gupta and others. The forthcoming film has been written by Sameer Satija, Ashima Chibber, Rahul Handa and directed by Ashima Chibber. Zee Studios has joined in on the production with Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani, whereas the music has been brought alive by Amit Trivedi.

The storyline guides us through a journey of the Chatterjee family from Kolkatta, India to Norway. Shifting across nations can be an ordeal in terms of adjusting to a new place with a distinct set of cultural values, but for Mrs. Chatterjee this whole transition turns into a nightmare when her children are taken away from her by the Velfred Child Welfare Services. Confusing cultural differences with inadequacies, the organisation distances and fragments a whole family on the basis of what may otherwise be declared as baseless accusations in India.

However, due to a lack of acknowledgement of Indian moral, values and customs, they chart out Mrs Chatterjee’s narrative as “unstable”, one which is deemed unfit for raising children. Her dilemmas pushes her to convene with other victims of the organisation who claim this whole operation to have been monetised by them for personal profits. Not only does Mukerji’s portrayal of the titular character bring a real life story to the big screen, but it also raises an interrogative eye against how motherhood is graded by our society in addition to how Indian customs are devalued by the outside world.
