Full Swing Ending Explained

Throughout eight episodes, the streaming platform carries its viewers through a myriad of events that make golf an alluring sport. We start off with the slightly bittersweet rivalry of the twin Js, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, as they make their way to the PGA Championship. While Spieth has been gradually climbing the charts in trying to become the best golf player in the world, Thomas has been slowly inching to win a championship to establish himself in the game.

Initially, he started off rocky, almost going to the bottom of the cut list. But as the next two days rolled around, he completely changed the trajectory snatching a win at the PGA Championship. Following him, we get an idea of what it’s like to be a has-been trying to make his way back into the game. With Brooks Koepka, everything was well and good about three years ago before a string of injuries rendered him unable to make leaps in the game.

Now that he is back, it still isn’t easy. The sport is unrelenting and ruthless. It only takes a single bad shot to send Koepka into a spiral, stopping him from getting the one thing that he needs to make this championship his. Joining him in this existential dread is Ian Poulter, who has been working hard in the game, trying to prove to people that he can still make it. His relevance in the sport doesn’t go away with the greying hair and the changing body.

However, the game never lies, and Poulter has lost his touch. With a loss at the Ryder Cup, he debates with himself whether the possibility of going to the LIV cup means he can keep paying for his family. Losing out before the weekend means that players don’t get to earn any money. With the Liv Series, it means that every appearance of his is cash in the bank account. In extreme contrast to this, we have Joel Dahmen, who doesn’t know the landmine he sits on or the kind of power he brings to the game.

When the US Open is about to begin, he has to qualify in a separate round even to be eligible to participate. However, as the days progress, his competitors start seeing behind the curtain that hides the real and skilled man. He starts climbing through the charts pretty quickly and ending in the top 10 of that championship.

Now that the rumours around the LIV cup have caused some controversy, the new and upcoming Matty Fitzpatrick has to go up against Dustin Johnson, who is planning on joining the LIV Series after multiple players left the PGA Tour to pursue that. We see the young man work hard and make his mark in the competition by slowly climbing through the charts, beating Will Zalatoris to become champion of the US Open.

Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson is tied for 24th place, two points over even. And the prospects of LIV are looking grim. Meanwhile, Tony Finau and Collin Morikawa are making their mark on the PGA Tour. Growing up in small towns and still vying after golf shows how universally this sport appeals to people. While historically rich people thrive in golf, there is a new wave of people coming and winning the series.

Especially Finau, who completely wowed audiences and shocked his critics as he swept the 3M Open and the Rocket Mortgage Classic. While Collin Morikawa stuns during the Open Championship in 2021 and rocks the 2022 games by reaching the top 10 in some of the most prestigious ones. These two, along with rookies Sahith Theegala and Mito Pereira, are showing the future of golf, the one where it is not exclusive and instead brings together people from all walks of life.

Although, most are sceptical of that ideal after discovering that seventeen PGA Tour players are leaving the tournament series to compete in the LIV Series. In response, Rory McIlroy, the legendary Tiger Woods and the rest of the PGA came together to make sure players are compensated fairly for their work. These players have made it clear that they will not be going to the LIV Series to ensure they are good role models for kids and other young golfers making their way in the industry.

With McIlroy’s win in the FedEx Championship, he truly cemented himself as the torch bearer for other golfers to see. For the FedEx Championship, you cannot just play well for four days, you have to play well for the whole year. He and Tiger Woods have become role models for everyone to see in the industry.

If Netflix greenlights a new season, we may able to see more into the golf world, catch up on these players as they begin a new season of the PGA Tour and possibly see some female golfers this time also feeling the aftereffects of the LIV Series.
