How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 3 Review

Previously we saw how Sophie’s portrait gets sold, and she gets excited. In episode 3, the wealthy couple who bought her work wishes to meet her and Jesse as he was the model in the portrait. Sophie somehow convinces Jesse to meet them, but things don’t go as expected. Jesse and Sophie meet up with the couple Warren and Megan, who are absolute misogynists. Initially, they seem to be friendly, but sooner, it is revealed that Warren bought the portrait to represent the men’s rights movement because Jesse, according to them, seems like a fine American man.

On the other hand, Sid and Hannah struggle to find ways to keep their long-distance relationship working. They try to book flight tickets, but luck isn’t on their side. At least that’s what they think until they meet Alice, Charlie’s date. Here’s what happened before to understand why Alice came into the picture. When Ellen says she has two reservations empty at a restaurant, Valentina decides to join in with a date. So, Ellen, Rachel, Valentina and her date leave for the restaurant. Annoyed at how quickly Valentina could move on, Charlie decides to try a date out.

Now, when Sid, Hannah, Alice and Charlie go to dinner, Sid and Hannah learn that Alice is a flight rewards expert. Hannah persuades Sid to hitch Charlie and Alice somehow so that she can help them with their flight tickets. Soon, Charlie realizes the plan and gets pissed at Sid. Surprisingly, Alice doesn’t know that it was all Hannah’s idea. Somehow, Hannah buys Alice’s trust, and the ladies leave home together.

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1 Ending

After escaping the rich couple’s home, Jesse confronts Sophie and explains that he wouldn’t have called Meredith if he had seen her. Sophie immediately cuts him off and says that Meredith is his life’s love and that he must give her a shot. Sophie then places her portrait of Jesse on a Taxi’s trunk and gets distracted by her phone. The Taxi simply drives away, and Sophie is seen running behind it. Then, the future Sophie’s son asks how the lost portrait was returned, to which she replies that it’s another story for another time.

The ending also shows why the episode’s title is The Reset Button. When Sophie figures Valentina has brought her new date home, she asks her how she could move on from Charlie so quickly. Valentina says that she believes she and Charlie will end up together; however, she wants to enjoy meanwhile. She also confidently says that Charlie won’t easily start seeing someone. Nevertheless, at the end of the episode, Charlie actually goes to a resto-bar and meets a woman, and that’s when we hear Sophie’s voice saying that Charlie has pressed the reset button.

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1: Final Thoughts

In the first episode, Neil Patrickson’s cameo highly surprised the fans, but in episode 3, he might be in the Taxi that drove off with Sophie’s portrait, but it’s unsure. Anyhow, the episode was fun and had its subtle humour essence. The tension between Jesse and Sophie is visible, but we can’t judge now whether he is the father of Sophie’s son because Charlie is on the dating roll.

Hopefully, everything will start making sense in the upcoming episodes. If you haven’t watched episode 3, check it out on Hulu and Disney+ Hotstar.
