The 17th episode of Urusei Yatsura orうる星やつら is here, and this episode was as random as it can be, with hilarious situations, new characters and further developments. Now without further ado, let us jump into this review.

Urusei Yatsura Episode 17 Overview

From the moment the news of this coming dropped, the older generation of anime enthusiasts have been nothing but glad. In its time, it was the single most groundbreaking anime with a fresh concept and entertaining characters. Fans are nothing but pumped for this newly remastered version.  

This time this anime will be directed by three directors, one is Takahashi Hideya, who is famous for working on Sword Art Online, Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru, To LOVE-Ru, etc. Others being 

Kamei Takahiro, who worked on Enen no Shouboutai, Captain Tsubasa (2018), etc, and Kimura Yasuhiro, who worked on Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic.

The opening song is “Aiue (アイウエ)” by MAISONdes, Minami and SAKURAmoti. On the other hand, the ending song is “Tokyo Shandy Rendezvous (トウキョウ・シャンディ・ランデヴ)” by KAF, Tsumiki.

Urusei Yatsura Episode 17 Review and Recap – Wishing Upon A Star

Episode 17 is here, and we are back again with another review. This episode of Urusei Yatsura starts with the new addition to the cast Ryuunosuke, longing for something every girl uses someday. She breaks her Piggy Bank to get her hands on some coins so that she can finally get her first bra, as till now, she has been using bandages to cover her chest.

On the other hand, we see Shinobu being tailed by some stalkers who reveal that their boss fell in love with her. But after seeing the boss’s picture, Shinobu is not at all interested, and she asks Ryuunosuke to help her escape this situation. She agrees to this, and even the minions of the delinquent boss decide to come up with a plan so that their boss can finally forget Shinobu.

Shinobu and Ryuunosuke start pretending to go on dates so that the followers can click their pictures and show them to their boss. But Ryuunosuke is not doing this just to save Shinobu, she wants the 5000 yen gift card offered by the stalkers that could buy her a good bra. She becomes pumped to complete this task and even gives too much effort into pretending to be Shinobu’s boyfriend. But things do not go as planned, and problems arise for everyone.

The next segment focuses on how Ataru’s house gets destroyed by a wish-granting shooting star. But this is not just any star, it can talk and make three wishes come true. Even though at first, the Moroboshi family did not believe in it, they quickly changed their tune after witnessing the star’s powers. Here again, hilarity ensues as every one of them has different wishes.

Ataru’s father wishes to be born with a new life, his mother wants money, Lum intends to cure the infidelity of her husband Ataru, and our protagonist, as usual, wants a harem of girls for himself. None of them wishes to back down, and thus they start quarrelling amongst themselves. Watch this episode and find out who wins.

Verdict

This episode, again, was funny and bizarre. The characters managed to deliver entertainment every week with their weird antics. Even though their actions might not make sense, you will still be able to laugh at what they do.
