BtoB (비투비) aka Born to Beat is reportedly preparing for a spring comeback after almost a year since their last release – which was Be Together album. Popularly known for their soulful ballads and seasonal releases, their bringing new sounds for the colourful spring is making all the fans (also known as melody) ecstatic.

While we count the days till their comeback, let’s take a look at BtoB, which consists of Seo Eun-kwang, Lee Min-hyuk, Lee Chang-sub, Im Hyun-sik, Peniel Shin and Yook Sung-jae, and their absolute work-of-art music, which will definitely make you feel some type of way. Although, they are usually famous in the K-pop community for their meme-like personalities, however, when they pick up their mics you know they ain’t just joking.

10 BtoB Songs to Listen

It’s Okay

My introduction to BtoB has been with the Song Beep Beep, and that’s the image that stayed with me as I watched more of their content, where they are doing ridiculously hilarious things in their waiting rooms. Until this song was released which really made many people notice their quality vocals and sensibility.

It’s Okay (괜찮아요) is a comforting song that tells you that things will be okay. If you feel overwhelmed then it’s fine to take a break and good things will come your way when the time comes – believe in yourself because BtoB definitely believes in you. The way their lyrics and their sweet voices will comfort everyone makes it truly my favourite song from them.

Missing You

While Btob always had quality music, Missing You which is a pop ballad produced and written by member Im Hyun-sik, truly made the group become mainstream. Even if someone doesn’t follow the group they must have heard this song being covered by someone or their performance getting viral on social media.

I believe this song was the start of their seasonal releases which only became better with every comeback. Just like its title the song makes you feel reminiscent of the good times you had with someone.

Someday

Someday was also released in the same year(2017) before Missing You, in the tenth mini-album, Feel’eM. It is also a self-composed song by member Hyun-sik, where the lyrics are about the lovers meeting again at a better time despite the uncertain future ahead.

Beautiful Pain

Part of a special album titled Hour Moment, this is the first song that didn’t feature their leader Seo Eun-kwang, as he was serving in the military. The song uses a simple piano melody as its base, and slowly builds into a gentle, rhythmic soundscape of strings, layered harmonies and dramatic synths. The lyrics reflect on how it’s impossible to turn back time on a romance and also empathised with the fans as they remembered the missing leader.

The Song

The song is said to be a letter from the group to their fans who have waited for a long time since the members were serving in the military. Also, they teamed up with MosPick who wrote It’s Okay, which has a more mature sound to it.

The song talks about how people listen to songs to reminisce and think of others. Whether it is a happy or sad memory, as time passes it all becomes a part of their reminiscence and this is a song that encompasses all that nostalgia and lonely emotion which everyone could relate to.

Pray/I’ll Be Your Man

This is the group’s first dance title track release after quite some while – and has an emotional dance track with trap elements. The lyrics talk about wanting to be with your lover as you pray to see them again. The music video is also interesting with some good action scenes and if you take a closer look then you might see CLC’s Elkie being featured.

The Feeling

While the previous songs were on a dark/after break-up side, The Feeling which is part of their summer album This Is Us – whose title track was Only One For Me, has a fresh and lively vibe to it. It is an upbeat summery electronic pop-style song that begins with a mysterious ambience and a synthesizer and expresses the feelings of young love and falling for someone for the first time.

About Time

Composed by Minhyuk, this dark, heartbreaking song is about someone asking their lover not to leave them. It showcases Minhyuk’s style of music which got more developed in the years to come, as we also saw in his latest comeback as a soloist. Many fans are unaware of this B-side track that is very different in the genre as compared to other tracks on the mini album Feel’eM.

Swimming

If you haven’t already recognised how talented Hyun-sik really is, this song is a perfect introduction to him as a solo artist. His mellow vocals which can easily belt out higher notes are his signature style. The song is about someone you love drifting away, which is expressed through the word – ‘swimming’.

Friend

Friend is the sixth digital single which was released as a pre-release single for their special album Hour Moment. Composed by Jung Il-hoon, who has now left the group, is a song about a person’s friends with whom they have been together for years. They have had their own high and low moments but in the end, they truly love their friends and hope to keep their friendship growing. This song seems perfect for a group like BtoB, who are like true friends, being there whenever any member needs it.
